In English we say:
I can’t stop thinking about you.
In Poetry we say:
I know we’ve only just met, and I don’t mean to move too fast, but I couldn’t sleep last night because I don’t know your middle name, or how you take your coffee, and for some reason there is nothing in the world that I would like to know more. Except maybe how your hair looks when it’s messy in the morning, or what makes you laugh until you cry, or what makes you laugh when you’re crying. Either, or both, or all of those facts would be fine.
And I know we’ve only just met, and I don’t mean to move too fast, but I couldn’t focus this morning because I need to know your preference in take out food, and the dreams you’d never say out loud but secretly wish to come true. And if I were to buy you flowers, would you want them to be blue?
And I know we’ve only just met, and I don’t mean to move too fast, but suddenly your voice is in my head playing on repeat and I’ll probably never say any of this, and I should probably get some sleep. It’s just that suddenly everything that is significant to you is significant to me.
11.5 Hitting The Roof
Jack pushes the door to the roof open 20 minutes before his shift. Already in his black scrubs. No jacket. Robby greets him with, "You're early."
"So are you."
"I work here."
"Smartass."
There’s a breath of silence.
"So, about that cop."
"Yeah?"
"You turned down a shift."
Jack nods.
"That's new. It can’t be that serious. Christ you two only went out on Valentines Day."
“I know.”
“That was what? Three days ago?”
“More like four and a half.”
“That’s not even a week.”
“It’s enough time for us.”
“So, now you’re gonna move in together before the end of the month?”
Jack shrugs. Robby does a double take. Blinks. Blinks again.
“That was supposed to be a joke.”
“My officer got threatened at home. So, we’re at my place for a few days.”
Robby shakes his head like an irritated dog.
“Jack!?”
“I like the company. The apartment... it’s been empty for...”
“Jack what do you even know about YOUR officer?”
“Enough for now.” And Jack turns back toward the door leading down. “Maybe you come over when the three of us are off?”
Robby rubs his beard. “You know when that’s gonna be?”
“I’ll check and text you.”
His friend huffs and they leave the roof.

They already have a kid???
this world moves so fast
but it's the little things that last
forget the complications;
we'll regret our reservations
come on over, love
let's try
