So Wen Yuan attends the Gusu Lan lectures and more or less immediately gets ran over by a kid. The kid - a Lan going by the ribbon, if a bit unruly - apologizes profoundly. To make up for it, Wen Yuan is dragged to the rabbits because of course there are cute little bunnies hiding in the Cloud Recesses.

“My a-Die caught them,” says the kid, and leads Wen Yuan straight to said father.

Wen Yuan is a polite child, getting the peacekeeping middle child personality, and regular contact with Sect Leader Wen keeps him from freezing up when he’s face to face with Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji. They fought in the war, made names for themselves as just warriors and keen diplomats. Not everyone was too happy with the fact that there were Wen left to stage a coup after all.

The men are nice, ask Wen Yuan about his life and studies and he’s hoping to make a good impression. He thinks he must have left a very good one because he keeps running into them to the point where it’s a joke among the guest disciples. If one wants to see the esteemed Hanguang-jun, his husband or one of their children, just look for Wen Yuan. Surely one of them will be around.

And honestly, the attention is flattering, he just doesn’t quite get why they do it until—

“You remind us of a good person,” says Wei Wuxian. “Lan Yuan, Lan Sizhui, though a different character from yours. He was the best.”

He must have died in the war, Wen Yuan thinks. “I’m sorry for your loss.”

Wei Wuxian smiles. “You are very kind Wen Yuan. A credit to your family and sect.”

And he is. Even after the year in Gusu passes, Wen Yuan never quite loses contact, least of all he disappoints one of the children. He likes Gusu, but he’d never trade it for his home, for his family. He’s grown up happy and loved, and as someone else’s child because in a world where most cruelties are fixed, he’d be no orphan. And even if, he’d certainly wouldn’t have made it to Gusu.

When i ended up the anime, i was super in love with it, so obviously i went to the fandom, to see what other people were thinking about Toradora! And... holy sh*t so many commentaries, with so many likes, saying things like "Taiga is a terrible person i hate her!", "Taiga is terribly written, and super annoying, she shouldn't be with Ryuuji", "Ryuuji should stay with Minorin or Kawashima!" "This is ending was bullsh*t! Why did she goes away?"

I was shocked, really shocked, i mean, i thought that the history made very interesting messages, but a lot of ppl didn't take it, but it was so clear, at least for me?

About Ryuuji liking Minorin... bruh, one of the main point of the series, is the difference between loving someone because the imagem that you have about them, and loving someone for who they are. The second one is literally Ryuuji and Taiga relationship!!! Ryuuji only didn't perceived that he was in love with her, because his thought of love is putting someone on a pedestal, thinking of someone as perfect, but with Taiga was'nt like that, he fell for all who she is, and this is why i love this anime so much.

And the most annoying one is "They're more like brothers"... HOW? Because they're close? Because they keep going to each other houses? Because they don't keep blushing everytime that they speak with each other? Because they don't keep fantasing about each other? Because they don't put each other in a pedestal? Holy sh*t... The history is literally about their platonic relationship evolving to a romantic one... maybe if Taiga or Ryuuji kept talking about each other as the same way they talked of Minorin or Kitamura, iit would be more believable that they are in love 😒.

And last, the people who complained about them getting togheter, for the sake of god, this is a romance, the protagonists always end up with each other.

That said, this is fiction. I am an adult and know the difference between fiction and real life. I won't shy away from her horrible side and want to write this side of her as well. She is a VILLAIN and I will write her as such. I will tag everything that has to do with violence against children.
