Thought on Unova characters?
Like. All of them? I'm not gonna go through every single character and rate them, but Unova definitely has some great characters, and Hilbert and Hilda are my favorite protag designs. Elesa, Iris, and Shauntal are some of my favorites. Oh! and Lenora is really cool too. Gen 5 just had a lot of really fun, well-designed characters, and they did a pretty good job of fleshing them out a little more than usual. It was nice to see the gym leaders be a bit more involved in the main story.
I also really liked Cheren and Bianca as rivals. I don't think I fully appreciated how interesting and well developed they were when I first played the game, but I remember that Bianca's struggles were super relatable, and it was cool to see Cheren become a gym leader in the second game. I love when they bring characters back and show their growth.
Oh. And I guess N was pretty cool too. lol. This game came out during a time when I would often be turned off by the mega popular effeminate male character of whatever media I was into, so I didn't pay much attention to N. But I got over that at some point, and I definitely appreciate him more now. He's such a fascinating and well-written character. If I had the brain space rn, I would probably explore N, Hilbert, and Hilda as a poly ship.
