So. Steven Moffat Appreciation Day will be on November 18. (Because it is Steven Moffat's birthday and that's as good as any occasion for it.)

The Countdown will take place in the week prior to that, November 11 - 17.

'the day of the doctor', the big 50th anniversary, right? who wrote that, I wonder? oh yes, STEVEN MOFFAT.

anything like that would be incredibly daunting for a screenwriter - a massive anniversary that would be record-breaking and broadcasted to millions. did he fail to deliver? no he did not.

in fact, he did more than just deliver. he fucking fLEW with this episode, he went to fucking infinity and beyond with his writing and fucking CHANGED THE DOCTOR’S HISTORY. that’s right, he completely turned around everything. not brave, you say? i don’t know, that seems pretty damn courageous to me.

whilst doctor who has been on television, the fans have been made to think that gallifrey was dead and gone, along with all the time lords, and that the doctor was the one to make that happen, because that’s what the doctor had believed. what did moffat do? he went ‘fuck that’ and fucking rEWROTE THE DOCTOR’S ENTIRE HISTORY SO THAT NO, THE DOCTOR DID NOT DESTROY HIS OWN KIND TO SAVE THE UNIVERSE, HE SAVED THEM. THUS CHANGING EVERYTHING WE EVER ASSUMED ABOUT THE DOCTOR.

saying all that, did he suddenly pull that all out of a hat and bend all previous episodes out of shape whilst destroying all hope for any future series? no he fucking did not. because he’s so damn fricking clever, he wrote it in such a way that evERYTHING STILL MAKES SENSE AND EVERYTHING IS STILL 1000% OUR BELOVED DOCTOR WHO. a small step for a whovian, one giant leap for whovian-kind.
