hi, i had a question. i bought a sports compression top a while back to use makeshift for a binder/as one, but it doesn't really work? I need to, like, fold it up and the down once over my chest when i wear it, and even then it doesn't work too well, and it makes me really sweaty too.. i have a pretty small chest size, as well, and i know i bought the right size compression top. :( i was wondering if you knew of anything i could do to make it work or something, maybe..? i have no idea what to do
Do you have a needle and thread or a sewing machine? My advice would be to get creative. You can’t get a better fit than something custom made, so do yourself a favor and modify your compression wear.
I modified every single Underworks binder I owned. I’d buy the full length compression tops which inevitably sucked; they showed wear and tear almost immediately. So I would inevitably have to cut them in half and stitch up the seams… the modification process made the binders a lot more comfortable and effective, in my opinion.
Another suggestion would be to double layer, especially with sports compression tops like Under Armour or something similar. I always wore two compression shirts- one super small top tucked into my underwear, followed by a regular sized compression top in addition to my t-shirt and other clothes… but keep in mind that layering will definitely make you sweat more!
Sweat is unavoidable when it comes to compression wear and binders… when your stuck in skin tight fabric for multiple hours a day, sweat and irritation is, unfortunately, only natural. Compressing my chest left me with horrible rashes, abrasions, and constant discomfort… even in a adequately sized garment. But, don’t despair- lots of folks I know have had significantly better binding experiences and you could too!
It’s really easy to modify clothing. You don’t need to be especially handy or crafty but you do need to have enough patience to thread a needle. Your sewing or stitching doesn’t need to be impeccable or pretty looking, it just needs to be enough to keep things from splitting at the seams.
Before you get your modification game on, turn the binder/compression top inside out. Always stitch on the side that comes in contact with your skin. Measure yourself before you get going. Use safety pins to keep things in place while you take the fabric in. Don’t be afraid to practice stitching/sewing elsewhere before you get started.
That’s what I’d do… hope you’re able to make it work :-)

Anyone out there hook me up with a good Sailor Jerry artist? Subject is a lion's head.
What is modification?
I believe everyone is apart of modifying themselves, so when I hear people's little side comments about someone saying they're modified and they only have one piercing or one tattoo or something, I seriously don't think they understand the meaning on modification.
Dying your hair, cutting your hair, putting on make up, piercings, tattoos, colored contacts, are all apart of modification! Modification is anything that makes you "not look like your 'natural' self"
Also, some people want so bad to be labeled as modified and some wish to never be associated with that term because they see it as being a "freak".
We're all beautifully modified, some more than most.
