Random rant but "tattooing as an industry is dying!!" And "what killed tattooing??" are such ridiculous statements and questions. Idk why tattoo artists convinced themselves that theyre blue collar workers or "tradesmen" when they are artists. Like...its in the name....and "artist" was always an extremely unstable profession. You could get away with tricking yourself you're a blue collar/trade worker when the gate to this art medium was kept better, but once technology invented the mighty tattoo pen and cartridge - you should've kissed your exclusivity goodbye. Anyone can learn how to handle a pen; nobody needs an autoclave anymore; nobody needs to learn how to make needles; nobody needs to learn how to mix ink. Its like asking "why are there so many gamedevs today??" while looking at an Unreal Engine logo lmao. Tattooing isnt dying you're just no longer 1 in a million, and when any artist of any other medium can pick up a tattoo pen ur gonna see a sharp drop in demand. You can either cry abt it and quit or start treating it as a form of art (that you do mainly for fun and fulfillment) and not as a bsns, because it is never going back to that.
If my skin wasn’t limited and the healing process wasn’t absolute hell I’d be tattooing myself 3 times a week this is the most amazing feeling ever on earth
A peek at how ridiculously chaotic my tattoo sketchbook is (I just draw whatever and cut it out when it’s done for nicer presentation, use it for notes, etc) and practice with ballpoint cartridges!
