Modern fandoms suck.
Gone were the days you felt like you belonged to a community, and it didn't matter how new or senior you were - you were all included much the same.
Gone were the days when everyone would share/reblog/retweet your work - again, it didn't matter if you were new or senior.
Gone were the days where people made the effort to make sure no one got left behind.
Gone were the days your work was shared regardless of trope/ship/favorite characters.
Gone were the days when people actually got excited for new fan-created content, no matter how new or lesser known you were.
Gone were the days that you were actually supported wholeheartedly.
Everyone was seen. Everyone was included.
Fandom is just not exciting or worth it anymore.

i hate how much people care about their ships being "canon" now. spirk fans didn't publish zines full of fanfics in the 70s only for modern fandom to grovel at the knees of corporations and beg for things to be canon. use your imaginations, don't allow billionaires to think for you.
why’s it so hard 4 ppl in fandom spaces 2 not be so unnecessarily mean towards others??
especially when it comes 2 these ppl getting cartoonishly angry over a ship along with hating a character so much that u butcher them in ur mind n mischaracterize them 2 hell and back, completely ignoring the character’s nuances, and dehumanizing the character even more by going as far as to call said character a “thing”derogatorily…u guys seriously need 2 chill tf out..
like seriously imagine having a full on mental breakdown over seeing, or hearing about, or seeing the full name of a character and or ship u don’t like???
(all the while bragging constantly about how much u hating said characters and or ships in multiple posts and or in ur bio n then still wonder why fans of said characters and or ships(or ppl who aren’t even fans of them but are still respectful about it) get upset at u and or want nothing 2 do with u.
there’s a HUGE difference between understandably having a character and or ship being soured 4 u due 2 bad experiences with a toxic subset of a fanbase or being triggered by a character due 2 personal reasons related 2 trauma
AND
using what u have gone through or ur own personal struggles or personal dislikes of headcanons 2 be ruthlessly nasty/catty 2 the fans of these ships,characters, or hcs who haven’t done anything wrong along with dehumanizing canonically morally grey/flawed characters that have canonically have gone through abuse of some kind.
if seeing a ship, hc, or character or even the characters’ or ship’s name is enough 2 put u in a bad mental state or have a full on mental breakdown then that is entirely on u and not the fans.
