And of course, we have our mythology, religions and legends. There is enough narrative material for a full cast of black actors. Hollywood is erasing us from the narrative after the USA and Europe tried to erase our history. And you are ok with that?

I fucking don't care of a black Helen. I care that my culture have been demonize by Hollywood (your movies on voodoo), that in the process of picking black actors to play a white character write by a white guy/woman, you are supporting the erasure of our voice: support black writers, support black culture, let people know about our legends.

Even black greek don't understand you people... I was just talking with some of them about Odyssey, because I was curious.... Sure they might not have all the same view, but most of them think that's just performative tolerance.

Stop acting like the USA id the only country outside of African countries to have black people. I'm tired to see Hollywood narrative everywhere and I wish Europe and Africa will get rid of your stupid take and start our own creative version of our own legend without Hollywood around.

You could do that too. Of course in the USA, the process is to get rid of the coloniser view and to remember the nation and native people... Because, it's part of your country. No you are still promoting a colonizer voice. Who has his own vision of Odyssey. A vision most greek people disagree with.

Black american privilege... you should really think twice of those movies though. This is just an illusion of diversity. Nothing else.

Anyway, I already laughed so hard when it was Brad Pitt was playing Achille... I didn't believe it could be worse.

I thought, after "Woman King" you'd understand why it's important to have a voice in the narration.... but you want just to be puppet for Hollywood.

Not all adaptations are great, but Odyssey is just a fucking joke.

Hi! Mod C taking over because i *am* Black American AND Haitian American so hollywood depictions of voodoo also affect me. Your ask is full of vitriol and hatred towards Black Americans using hatred of colonization as an excuse. I don't play with diaspora wars nonsense, so foh. If you don't like hollywood depictions of Blackness and feel like they don't represent you. There's Nollywood right there, there's other African film industries, theres other diasporic film industries. SEEK OUT THE REPRESENTATION YOU DESIRE OR MAKE IT YOURSELF, because that's exactly what Black Americans have done for our entire existence in this god forsaken country.

Of course black people in hollywood block busters is just perfomative tolerance, its the bare minimum that we get here. Non-American Black people have this idea that Black people have a perfect, cushy life in the US and that we're perfectly content with the representation we have here, but movies aren't real life. Hollywood films are still a really really racist industry.

You're over here railing against hollywood racism and hollywood not representing you properly while the conversation the whole time has just been about how we barely have a foot in the door. Open your eyes ansmd realize that youre never going to get perfect representation out of hollywood, so stop expecting it to just fall into your lap. There is so much advocacy, so many conversations being had *in the Black American community you're disparaging so much* about how we can fight for better representation, how we can create our own stories. You can join the fight with us, but instead you'll just keep bashing the small light that we have with the actors of color who do make it into these roles.
