“The Man Trap”
part two of x
The data shows that most people are not actually complaining about trans women using “women-only spaces.”
oh my god it hurts
and it's going to hurt forever
every now and then I see people passing screencaps of these posts around, and in the months after I made this post there were people checking in on me assuming I was going through grief or depression or something
to set the record straight, the context is that I had covid and was bleeding from my throat and lungs, but for some ungodly reason, I was feverishly driven to drink lemonade and kept screaming and writhing because I was pouring fizzy lemon juice on open throat wounds
"But AI can't do your job. It can help you do your job, but that doesn't mean it's going to save anyone money. Take radiology: there's some evidence that AIs can sometimes identify solid-mass tumors that some radiologists miss, and look, I've got cancer. Thankfully, it's very treatable, but I've got an interest in radiology being as reliable and accurate as possible. If my Kaiser hospital bought some AI radiology tools and told its radiologists: "Hey folks, here's the deal. Today, you're processing about 100 x-rays per day. From now on, we're going to get an instantaneous second opinion from the AI, and if the AI thinks you've missed a tumor, we want you to go back and have another look, even if that means you're only processing 98 x-rays per day. That's fine, we just care about finding all those tumors." If that's what they said, I'd be delighted. But no one is investing hundreds of billions in AI companies because they think AI will make radiology more expensive, not even if that also makes radiology more accurate. The market's bet on AI is that an AI salesman will visit the CEO of Kaiser and make this pitch: "Look, you fire 9/10s of your radiologists, saving $20m/year, you give us $10m/year, and you net $10m/year, and the remaining radiologists' job will be to oversee the diagnoses the AI makes at superhuman speed, and somehow remain vigilant as they do so, despite the fact that the AI is usually right, except when it's catastrophically wrong. "And if the AI misses a tumor, this will be the human radiologist's fault, because they are the 'human in the loop.' It's their signature on the diagnosis." This is a reverse centaur, and it's a specific kind of reverse-centaur: it's what Dan Davies calls an "accountability sink." The radiologist's job isn't really to oversee the AI's work, it's to take the blame for the AI's mistakes. This is another key to understanding – and thus deflating – the AI bubble. The AI can't do your job, but an AI salesman can convince your boss to fire you and replace you with an AI that can't do your job. This is key because it helps us build the kinds of coalitions that will be successful in the fight against the AI bubble." - Cory Doctorow, The Reverse Centaur’s Guide to Criticizing AI

INDUSTRY SEASON 4 EPISODE 7
idk i would personally rather give up access to certain products seasonally or locally than have people enslaved to give me the ability to have any product any place any time. i think i can go without tomatoes in january.
i truly do think that most people if confronted with it and pressed on it would agree. but it's comfortable to gain privileges from someone else's suffering, especially if you don't have to see that suffering directly.
i know most leftists agree that everybody should have a right to food, water, shelter, and healthcare but i think a vitally important fifth pillar is privacy. people should not be compelled to be tracked, monitored, or to share personal space with others to access their other essential rights
"If you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to fear" is and always has been fascist rhetoric everyone.

Most people don’t even know her name. Alice Parker is her name. Back in 1919, she created and patented a gas powered heating system when most homes were still using fireplaces and coal stoves. She imagined heating an entire home safely, with different rooms warmed individually instead of relying on one fire source. Even though her system wasn’t fully used back then, her ideas are the reason modern central heating and zoning exist today. That’s Black history. That’s legacy.
Did a little digging and found an article talking about her in as much detail as the researcher could find including images from the patent she filed and which discusses how black scientists are often hidden or forgotten:
Beyond mistaken identity and misattributed invention, huge gaps remain in the history of Alice Parker. Here's what one reporter’s research u

Everywhere I go I'm reminded how much the desire to punish homelessness and migration and other Undesirablenesses make society markedly worse for everyone
like why is the park locked after 5pm so I can't go and sit under a tree after work? to punish rough sleepers for the terrible crime of being homeless and alive
why do I have to buy a drink, beg for a code and fuck around with an awkward keypad for 5 minutes in order to take a piss? because fuck homeless people
why do I need to provide proof of address and photo ID to do everything? because we had to create a really hostile environment for migrants
why can't you sit anywhere? well because god forbid people sleep when they're pushed out of shelter. can't risk that.
every day governments, councils and businesses make your life worse as a side effect of making vulnerable people's lives WAY worse. if you're ok with that you're a fucking idiot and if you're in favour of it you're a vindictive cunt cause again literally the ONLY payoff for your life getting worse is other people's lives getting worser.
A quick gwenmj warmup <3
To be honest, I have not watched this Taylor Lorenz video yet, but this thumbnail is really giving this meme:
White women gonna white, white leftists gonna white, unfortunately 🤷🏻♀️
And for the love of god, Taylor Lorenz needs to fucking stop platforming conservative influencers who are fresh out of leaving MAGA or the Right. Esp when they have yet to do the fucking work. First that transphobic gay influencer? Now Ashley St Clair, who dated Elon Musk and previously spouted transphobia and covid misinformation?? Fuck off.
And of course, Taylor Lorenz's buddy, Matt Bernstein, would interview Ashley St Clair as well. Can you imagine if white leftists with platforms use those platforms to spread more awareness for community organisers and activists instead of platforming former rightwingers who have only begun their journey to deradicalisation?
One day after I quit my job, I will have time to dedicate a full length essay on why Taylor Lorenz, as a White lady in lefty content creator spaces, has been giving me the ick since 2025 😑
Criticism about her Dark Money WIRED article:
Source: Jupitalbaal via Instagram
Criticism about her Chinamaxxing video by Emma Chang-Kredl:
And she's now appeared Shaji Sharma's recent video about looksmaxxing. I think it's scary how a lot of leftist creators are treating her like she's someone with credibility. Like, I just think it's scary that we are just assuming a creator with a platform and a following with credibility.
And now she's literally on Instagram picking fights with a Palestinian content creator with cerebral palsy. Basically, this is a disabled Palestinian creator who was interviewed and she said that the future of Palestine is disabled (which is correct and I think Jasbir Puar talks about this in her book, The Right to Maim). And Lorenz went into that interview's comment section, accusing the Palestinian lady of not actually caring about disabled Palestinians in Gaza and whitesplaining to her Palestinian genocide... becos the Palestinian woman wasn't wearing a mask in the interview 🤡
Allies of the Free Palestine movement need to be more and stop putting non-Palestinian allies on a pedestal, and to look out for white saviors in the movement.
God bless Tirrrb 🙌🏻
People also don't talk about how her dumbass Wired article also threw a bunch of smaller Black creators under the bus as well.
Also Black women's responses to Taylor Lorenz's and her friend, Kat Tenbarge's, infantilisation of Grimes on a Matt Bernstein's video:
She's still on her bullshit crusade against Maysoon Zayid, zero self-awareness that she's exactly the type of leftist she's calling out. White liberal women persecution complex and perpetual victimhood 🤡
"The whole thing makes me wary to engage in leftist Internet spaces again" reeks of white "ally" who stops being an ally becos Black and Brown people were "mean" to her. Give it a year, she will become a rightwing crank with the Nazis she's nicer to.
"Pple make up a lot of weird lies about me bc they don't personally like me," except that you literally have a history of accusing Black and Brown content creators of untrue shit, opening them up to harassment. And then you have the audacity to turn around and claim persecution when these Black and Brown content creators call you out.

do you have any opinions of any direction on hamilton the musical
Tumblr is a place to express yourself, discover yourself, and bond over the stuff you love. It's where your interests connect you with your
Tl;Dr: I think that while objectively, the production of Hamilton is well done, and the way it helped give Black stage actors a boost in musical theatre, the cultural outcome of it was almost not worth the musical itself. Because now we got people thinking that they can "race blind cast" roles that frankly, you should not be blind about casting. If you're gonna do a diverse cast, you have TO THINK about what story is now being told, but instead we got slave owner Jefferson as Black and all critical thinking thrown out the window.
Like it would be one thing if what we got out of Hamilton as a culture was a hearty respect for the storytelling art of rap and hip-hop, of Black musical theatre actors, and of the sacrifice of Black people that were forcefully bled into this godforsaken settler colony.
INSTEAD we got a love for Hamilton-style Lin Manuel rap and theatre music (with a remaining racist disdain for the rap the rest of Black people perform), the most liberal version of the creation of the United States ever, and most people still probably couldn't name you more than the same four Black people they talk about every Black History Month.
So it's like... The intent was there (to an extent). The production was there. The cultural outcome... 😐 What are we supposed to do with this.
