“the woman with the knife” (1969) .
Just an announcement
So I was looking for the Star Trek movies on roku and I found a bunch of them on Pluto!!! I'm not sure how many are there but I'm working my way through Star Trek the motion picture. Just thought since we didn't end up doing the watch parties you all might appreciate catching some Star Trek media without having to get Paramount+
mod laina
also random question but does anyone know if Ilia was played by a woc?
I just looked up the cast list, and...indeed she was:

Saw a Spones fanfic tagged 'Uhura bashing' and decided to give it a read to see what they could possible even bash her for.
They made her homophobic.
They made Nyota Uhura sapphic extrordinare homophobic.
I legitimately think the first video game to ever say the word "bisexual" out loud was Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty. There is a nonzero chance it was actually the first video game to print "bisexual" in a text format.
It is very possible that the first video game character to ever say the word "Bisexual" out loud was Solid Snake.
Based on what I found, the first ever bisexual character in a video game was Curtis Craig from Phantasmagoria 2 (1996) but I have yet to find out if he says the word "bisexual" in the scene where this is revealed
He does not. He says he's attracted to his male best friend but he never says the word "bisexual."
The first ever character to ever correctly and overtly identify a person as bisexual was Solid Snake in Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty (2001)
I once again have to point out for those who've never played mgs2 he says this when asked if another character that goes by the name of vamp is a vampire
Everyone here who hasn’t yet needs to see how fucking incredible this whole conversation is.
Snake: “He was at church when a bomb went off, got pierced by a crucifix, survived by drinking his family’s blood.”
Raiden: “So that’s why he’s called Vamp?”
Snake: “No it’s because he’s bisexual.”
I’m not sure if this just a coincidence but I noticed a lot of antagonists in Disney movies or shows are black girls while the protagonists are often white girls
Well it was certainly true for the Descendants trilogy. The first black girl is extremely light skinned (played by Sarah Jeffery) so some people might not catch that but Ursula’s daughter was definitely dark skin and like she was only doing what Mal the white girl did in the first film. But when she does it she’s “EvViILL” it makes me sick tbh. I didn’t even watch the third one.

This page from one of my history books looks like a lesbian utopia.

Black Panther marked a turning point for diversity in the MCU. For 10 years prior to that film, every movie in the MCU was led by a white ma
So this piece was made before BP: WF and it has lots of good graphic breaking down the amount of women and people of color in the MCU.
What people have been calling Superhero fatigue isn't really about the genre its that the MCU leaned so heavily into diversity/ DEI in Phase 4 that the MSheU became a popular term in alt-right sphere pretty much became the norm. Here's more on the MSheU
The backlash against diversity in the MCU then got muddled by people calling the movies repetitive nevermind that the vast majority of the new projects were headlined by women and people of color. (I'm not defending Antman Quantumania that shit was sloppy tho but Kang's appearance in it was interesting).
Now with MCU reversing its stance on diversity and not recasting Kang after Jonathan Majors trashed his career we have shitty all white avengers like Doomsday that's essentially nostalgia pandering. Which leads us to the #MCUsowhite tag we'd like to get trending.
