review its been a little while since ive read this so im a bit foggy on the details but i remember this being very good and cute and heart warming so if youre in the mood for namgi being gross romo nerds, go read this fic, it wont disappoint :’)

If there is anything Min Yoongi hates more than Mondays, it’s Kim Seokjin.

Mostly because Kim Seokjin is associated both with Mondays and also with something somewhere between flirting and being a general annoyance. Yoongi likes neither of those things, and he only knows how to handle one of them. 

Mondays are handled with lots of coffee and avoiding homeroom.

Yoongi doesn’t know how to handle Kim Seokjin.

Especially when they have the same lunch period and Seokjin, The Seokjin, deigns to leave the popular kid’s table and come and sit by him, every time. Yoongi can count on one hand how many times he’s looked up at the beginning of lunch and he doesn’t see Kim Seokjin carrying his ugly red tray across the cafeteria with that stupid smile on his face and that’s because it’s happened approximately zero times. The first time was maybe a week or two after Yoongi stopped eating in the library and since then, Seokjin is clockwork.

The annoying kind of clock that ticks loudly and clangs on the hour and pisses you off more than it does it’s job.

Even seeing that Yoongi has his notes spread out all over the table does nothing to stop Seokjin. 

“How are you today?” he asks, sliding into the seat beside Yoongi like it’s His Seat. Not even across from him. Beside him. Like they’re a gross couple at a restaurant who have to be touching and can’t even be mollified by footsie.

“Annoyed at you,” Yoongi says, watching the way Seokjin carefully arranges his food on his tray, weird hands cupping bowls and cutlery and Yoongi is not staring and his fingers are not cute. “Eat with your friends.”

Seokjin pops the lid off of his soup. “Aren’t we friends?”

Yoongi blinks at him, but Seokjin is too focused on his food to pay Yoongi the appropriate attention. “No,” he says flatly.

“That’s okay.” Seokjin smiles, taking a bite of chicken and making that weird sound he always does when he eats anything that even mildly counts as edible. His cheeks are full. He looks happy, even when his eyes focus on Yoongi and find him frowning. 

Yoongi does not get distracted by Seokjin’s throat as he swallows his mouthful and wipes at his mouth.

And considering that Yoongi does not get distracted, Seokjin looks rather smug, and Yoongi does not get distracted by that either. 

Seokjin leans in a little closer and Yoongi can’t quite find it within himself to push him away (he is not distracted). His eyebrows wiggle. “We can be more than friends.”

That’s enough to snap Yoongi out of it. “Greasy,” he scolds, pushing Seokjin’s shoulder away furiously. Seokjin is laughing, and if Yoongi is blushing it’s definitely out of embarrassment, and Yoongi doesn’t even think before he rips and scrap of paper out of a notebook and scribbles on it. “Here.”

Seokjin looks at it on the table for a moment before picking it up with his cute hands that aren’t cute. “You,” he reads. He makes a weird noise, a verbal question mark, and he looks a little like a puppy, and Yoongi can see why he’s popular.

“That…” Yoongi licks his lips, “is a list of people who are sitting too close to me.”

And oh, that makes Kim Seokjin laugh.

And no, Yoongi is not distracted.

“Okay, Min Yoongi,” Seokjin says, once his laughter dies down, and Yoongi watches him set his fork down and put the lid back on his soup and pick up his tray, and then he’s standing and he already looks further away and Yoongi doesn’t feel relieved. “I thought being close would make things easier, but I’ll play it your way.” 

And then he walks away.

For a second, Yoongi doesn’t know what to do, because he didn’t actually think that would work, and now Seokjin’s friends are scooting aside to make a spot for him at the popular kid’s table.

But right when Yoongi turns back to his notebooks – “Yoongi-ah!”

Yoongi rolls his eyes and turns over his shoulder, and there’s Kim Seokjin, The Seokjin, still standing. “What?”

Seokjin blows him a kiss.

Yoongi is too stunned to duck.

The flying kiss hits him right in the forehead.
