Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon - Rescue the Feudal Lord! (Remodeled Oedo Castle)
Spring Breeze Dancin' and Kitty Lily from Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon, arguably my favorite game ever. Drawn for a fan collab in celebration of the Ganbare Goemon franchise's 40th anniversary :3

thinking about Goemon Impact and the King of All Cosmos. probably because I’m playing Ganbare Goemon Daishuugo and crocheting a freehand King of All Cosmos, lol
I’m not a “shipper” per se (no shade or hate to those who are, that’s just not me), but something about these two characters (from entirely different game series) makes me feel like they belong together. Maybe not even in a romantic relationship per se. Someone else can write about them kissing if that makes you happy. I just… there’s enough shared energy between them that I feel like they need to be on the same screen even though they aren’t.
So like. Consider.
-They’re both physically enormous.
-Almost certainly the most powerful beings in their respective worlds.
-Kind of a funny way of talking.
-they can both fly, and they’re also capable of causing inordinate amounts of collateral damage.
-Killer theme music with Japanese vocals in a time when you didn’t always see that in games published in the US.
-They’re both world-famous celebrities (Impact is an international singer and movie star, and Kingy is… Kingy. Like, see the entire plot of We Love Katamari).
-Great flair for the dramatic.
-they both physically resemble the respective player characters, just kind of turned up to a million.
-big heads. Kingy’s is bigger but Impact’s—hat? Hair? Head? The big round black thing on top of him, whatever—is still prodigious.
-Able to draw the player character into their mouths via a tractor beam (see how Goemon et al. physically enter Impact in Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon, and the appearance of the first Royal Rainbow in the first Katamari Damacy.)
-Both of their respective games are deeply weird and ostentatiously Japanese, even more than most Japanese-made games tend to be. (This is not a bad thing, to be clear.)
So like. Idk where I’m going with this. I just feel like they have a lot in common and my brain puts them in the same bucket. I feel like they’d get along. (If you think that means they’d kiss, Godspeed, go with my blessing, but I’m not making them kiss in my brain.)
This is why I cross-stitched them together in… I think this was 2021? They just belong together in some capacity.
(Making that cross-stitch may be the gayest thing I’ve ever done, and that includes all the times I’ve had gay sex with other men.)
