zayne has a serious influence on the michael misa harem, he’s heavily involved on all fronts. mostly because he’s seen these ohl alum up close and he’s seen misa’s pushover attitude, he trusts everyone fuck all to not screw things up. zayne was stupid and naive about it when they were kids and that’s when spence got in there, rummaged around in misa’s heart and then shattered it. keeps shattering it lightly, like he’s just tapping on the glass but zayne isn’t supposed to mention it. but sam seems like he’s got both hands in misa’s chest cavity so zayne really has got to cut that shit off. everyone else is sort of fluttering around him waiting for their turn and that’s just not acceptable. misa’s too earnest for it all and that’s why it has to be zayne watching out, no matter how much misa says it’s fine.
marty is a loser and misa isn’t all that into him (yet he lets anything happens, another reason zayne’s got to watch it), lardis is too much like settling down because there’s no one else, sam’s a perv asshole obsessive bully and a london knight, cherny’s eh… zayne played with the guy and even he doesn’t know him that well, and then there’s schaefer. zayne’s seen the photo, and he’s seen them giggle by themselves off to the side at a party. zayne likes the guy! he went 1oa, is the face of a franchise, has a good haircut, good style, is a good communicator, and an even better dman. he’s got the zayne parekh stamp of approval.
misa really doesn’t even put any effort into it, it just sort of happens and it keeps happening and that’s nice enough to him. zayne thinks he could put in a little bit more effort here because the back up plan is for zayne to fire his own roster and just get with misa, he could and will do it if necessary. the back up back up plan is to just let misa settle for lardis and their gross rocket league adjacent-love. the point is, zayne really needs this to work out. he lives in new york! misa would actually want to visit, long distance wouldn’t be that bad!
schaef’s really good about it misa realizes. he’s like… efficient. it’s always his place in new york, and his hotel in san jose because it gets complicated with misa’s billet situation. if it’s a late game, they get food together, if it’s early misa just shows up or is picked up as directed. it’s sam who kind of complicates things by butting his head in and asking a million questions when misa comes back from schaef’s. what did you eat? why did he cook and not order in? did he fuck you? is his stroke game any good? did you kiss? are you guys dating? why is it just friends with benefits? he seems like a loser, drop him. zayne asks a similar amount of questions normally but with less animosity. misa just chalks it up to sam being sam and not having a friend who hooks up with guys before.
zayne and sam are having it out all off season long for who should have misa’s attention. zayne is trying to put him up with a good successful smart guy and sam just thinks if misa is going to have gay sex with anyone it should be sam, and also he should have exclusive rights to driving him around, and petting his back, and calming him down from nightmares. he’s the man for the job, not schaef and his nice suit and good communication.
