I feel like this is underrated, but I love the headcanon that Plato is Jenny's son because they have similar spots on the back of their head ๐ฅบ It just feels like something that could happen in real life and I love it!
โ๏ธ If you had total creative control over a production of Cats, what would you change and why?
I would make the wigs bigger (because duh), hire some older actors to really emphasize the generational thematic undercurrent of the show, and of course...

โ๏ธ If you had total creative control over a production of Cats, what would you change and why?
There's a bunch of little things, but in regards to big things, from a purely aesthetic POV, I would bring back the original Broadway style structuring of the show (mixed with the Original Vienna production), and how it interconnected with its narrative more - so this includes things like the Alonzo Shadow Dance connecting with the Demeter/Alonzo subplot etc.. I'd bring back their costuming and makeup tradition as well, as that I feel was a good example of how designs can be more "muted" from a colour palette standpoint and quick and easy to do, but not look like muddy water.
Also, I'd bring back all of the cut lyrics and stanzas - honestly make the show longer, I wish for audiences to sit in confusion and fear for as long as I demand they be there - I am a believer that CATS should be palatable as little as possible, and making it unsettling and weird again is a must. That being said, I likely wouldn't bring back G**ltiger in any significant capacity (the artistry of that number is commendable, but it has so many negative connotations associated with it, that I do not believe it should be brought back in any capacity, even if re-written), but do believe that "In Una Tepida Notte" and/or "The Ballad of Billy McCaw" should be reintroduced into the show. While I love giving Gus "The Pekes and the Pollicles", I'd like it if we could reintroduce the operetta within a musical angle.
Blocking Jemima/SIllabub and Victoria together more so that it's more evident that the two of them are mutually working towards the show's concluding revelation would add more narrative cohesion leading to the final sing and touch. While I feel in theory the two roles actually being one was a better idea from a streamline standpoint, I love Jemima/Sillabub too much to do that. So that's the compromise.
Plus another thing, I'd want all the counterparts to be on stage as well with their original designs and redesigns - so Plato and Admetus, Pouncival and Carbucketty, etc., so this would be a more rather than less cast.
Also from a purely "no one cares except for me" standpoint, I want Skimbleshanks to be blocked to hang out with his friends (see: Jenny, Jelly, Asparagus, and even Bustopher if he's kept on stage). Why is he always hanging out by himself - let him sit with his friends!/j
๐ฏ What's a common headcanon/theory/interpretation that you don't prescribe to?
Answered this one, but another one I don't personally subscribe to is Alonzo being siblings with Victoria and Mr. Mistoffelees (whom I don't think are siblings either).
Nothing particularly personal about it, but I already struggle with keeping B&W Alonzo at the forefront of my mind as is, and this one seems to exist mainly just because they have the same colour palette. So it stands on shaky foundation for me - plus I don't think all the cats need to be blood related to one another. It's nice to explore multiple different community and familial angles from each of the generations.

๐ฑ (who's your favourite song cat and why?): Rumpleteazer! She's so silly and fun and brightly-coloured... What's not to love?
๐พ (how did you "discover" Cats?): When I was younger (like under the age of seven) I found a VHS copy of the 1998 proshot at my great-grandmother's house and insisted we all watch it. I forget how many times I watched it, but no one was amused. I could only ever remember Victoria and Jemima for the longest time (for one of my many cat-themed Halloween costumes my grandma helped me with Jemima's makeup). Then I forgot about it for a while. Then in 2019 I went to see the movie and thought "this is abysmal... How about the musical?" However, I almost instantly forgot (again). Then YouTube suggested Sideways' video to me. As a music person, I was curious. There were a few other steps in there somewhere, but eventually I found the Cats fandom on Tumblr and the rest, as they say, is history

I've gotten really attached to the way so many fans characterize Macavity in a way that's closer to the lyrics of his song. When we see Macavity in the show, he's this terrifying, bright, and colorful force of nature who beats the tar out of Munkustrap and Alonzo, mind-controls a bunch of other cats, and in the case of Tecklenburg breathes fire (!). Not exactly subtle. But the song and original poem are very much a pastiche of Professor Moriarty, this suave and underhanded mastermind who knows exactly what strings to pull and how to get away with literal murder if he wanted to. I like "champagne villain"!Macavity a whole hell of a lot--I think he's much more interesting that way, and that's the way I try to write him in my own fics.
Whatโs your favorite moment from the show? (can be from any production)
"The Moments of Happiness" is always a standout, especially Jemima's solo.
Any time Munkustrap interacts with the other cats, especially the kittens, it's bound to be adorable.
Same for whenever Jellylorum and Gus interact--I adore these two with all my heart and soul.
Specifically the Broadway revival's take on the final Macavity fight is so goddamn good--Daniel Gaymon is still my favorite Macavity.
Although I do also want to give a shout-out to Tecklenburg's version of the fight, specifically for the Munkustrap Character Development(TM)...
The end of Mistoffelees's song when Tugger first comes up to a newly-returned Old Deuteronomy always gets me.
And whoever does the head nuzzle after Macavity is driven off, it warms my soul every time.

๐ฅ Share one (1) hot take/opinion about the show/fandom/etc
This isnโt a super hot take but Iโm very passionate about it: The actors cast as the oldie squad are trending younger and younger and I am not happy about it! While these actors have so much talent and I still enjoy their performances, it really gets my goat that age-appropriate actors are sidelined in favor of shiny new kids. Gus/Bustopher and Old Deuteronomy are the only roles that are solidly cast as older (and apparently older in the theater world is over 35). #keepJellyandJennyold

Thereโs no way I could have picked only one!
- the spotlight shrinking bit at the end of Magical Mister Mistoffelees makes the techie half of my brain go brrrrr. All the spotlight manipulation throughout the number really
- all of the pas de deux <3
- Tuggerโs drawn out bit at the end of his number
- In the updated version, Gus and Munkustrap singing together in Pekes and Pollicles
- OH WAIT I DO KNOW WHAT MY ABSOLUTE FAVORITE MOMENT IS, itโs after Moments of Happiness when Jemima is done singing her solo and the rest of the cast echoes it back to her in understanding. I could think about it forever and ever itโs so beautiful and makes my heart ache whenever I listen to it. This one little girl who hasnโt yet learned to hate changes the minds of all the adults in her family with the memory of sunshine. Crying

๐ What's your favorite familial ship?
This is barely backed by anything but I see Gus, Jelly, Munk and Gus Jr. as related and I do like thinking about the dynamics of that! Jelly and Munk are half-siblings (from different litters, of course) and Gus Jr. is Jellys son. Jelly fusses over Munk because it's hard to shake the fact that he is her younger brother, and Munk is a sort of mentor to Gus Jr., teaching him the theatrics that Gus Sr. can't quite do anymore.

Autistic Skimble is basically canon to me at this point.

๐ (Least favorite song) This might be controversial, but of the songs you'll hear in the musical today, I really have never caught on to The Moments of Happiness. Honestly both of the Old Deut songs that are him singing TSE poems are the closest I get to not liking the show, they just dragggggg (and don't even really fit the style of the rest of the show).
