The thing about those posts Iâve seen about Tumblr users having an odd habit of using other peopleâs posts criticizing a(n applicable) bigoted behavior as a confessional to try and cleanse them of their sins is like. Theyâre all missing the part that they objectively should be embarrassed about the behavior in the first place.
Like, yes, itâs supremely annoying and deeply weird how people will just tell on themselves on this site SO FUCKING HARD if you criticize the way no one on here listens to Black music. Itâs fucked up how white liberals will treat every nearby brown person like their pastor.
But like, they should be embarrassed about the fact the post applies to them. They really should be embarrassed that they like Harry Potter in 2025. And frankly, I donât think the confessional thing is an innocent behavior. Itâs white tears again. They start crying to you about how not being racist is actually super difficult for them, and when you call them on their excuses being excuses, they immediately heel turn and make you out to be an aggressor, unreasonable, an extremist, a threat. Thereâs a playbook here. We canât just be telling them itâs okay.
Like you have to realize, when white people are going onto posts criticizing them for not doing even the most minimal engagement with Black culture by saying listening to rap is just hard for them because they have auditory processing disorder or trauma or whatever, they are positioning themselves as a victim. They are positioning themselves as THE victim, even. They are trying to make themselves out to be the most oppressed person in the room. Other racists recognize this play on a subconscious level and dogpile you when you do not play along. Thatâs how this shit has gone for time immemorial. You canât just be saying âitâs okayâ.
a few doors down from me my neighbors have a squirrel bar nailed to the tree in front of the sidewalk, not exactly this but something like this:
it's been there for years and they never "stock" it so it's just sitting there. anyway, i thought it would be cute to make a little squirrel out of sculpey and leave it on one of the stools in the middle of the night. i also made a little sculpey beer bottle with its own label.
it lasted exactly one day and now it is gone. it didn't fall off, i stuck it on with tape. what do you think happened to it? your most fantastical and wrong answers only, please
HUGE NEWS HUGE UPDATE
squirrel REAPPEARED today... NOW PAINTED
i wanted to provide another update because there has been more activity at the nut bar
a few weeks ago i sculpted a new patron:
and put him in the bar. the next day he was gone. a couple weeks later he reappeared painted... but with ANOTHER new guest: a 3D printed squirrel based on the first one i sculpted (with a bottle!)
:)
The problem with studying the deep ocean is that humans need light to look at things, the depths of the ocean are extremely dark, and what lives there is accustomed to spending most of its time in that darkness. So when we go down there with submersibles and turn on Big Lights to see, we invariably and dramatically alter what's going on, in the same way that it's generally difficult to observe the natural behaviors of terrestrial animals if you whip out a megaphone and shout HEY GUYS WHAT ARE YOU DOING at them first.
A humble snubnose eelpout on its way to the whale fall buffet when some nearby humans give it a quick, unintrusive study:
I put this in the comments but feel it needs a reblog- Check out some of Dr Edith Widderâs work on light in the deep sea! Among other things, she used the bioluminescence of stoplight fish to deduce wavelengths which most deep sea animals canât perceive and used that to create light filters to be able to film with minimal disturbance! And thatâs how we got 25 minutes of giant squid footage!!!!
older lotr illustrations sometimes depict ĂŠowyn wearing ridiculously small armour. apart from the problem general sexualisation of the only female character (who really does anything), thereâs another hilarious thought:
ĂŠowyn pretended to be dernhelm, a man. to fit in, she must have worn menâs armor. so the armor in the illustrations is normal for rohirrim.
therefore, all the rohirrim rode to war just like that:
thereâs a thundering sound in the distance as the rohirrim ride into war but rather than hoofbeats itâs the collective sound of all their cheeks clapping
the artist for this particular piece is Frank Frazetta and to be fair to him this is how he drew the orcs armorÂ
so the rohirrim comment is probably not that far off
Thatâs a man who just straight up had a problem with the concept of wearing pants into battle, and I respect that
male or female
hero or villain
sea or land
even in the snow
I guarantee you Frazettaâs Rohirrim were 100% pants-free
Good Old Frank. That man loved bodies and hated clothes so much
Frank Frazetta was the reason He-Man was designed like that; the producers conduct a study to see what art appeal the most to children, and Frankâs work came out on top in popularity. So everyone in He-Man is dressed the way they are directly because of Frazetta.

need a book version of letterboxd so i can assemble my list of books using famous art on the cover
I can't believe home depot literally produced a wildly successful science fiction musical and we all just pretend it didn't happen. on one hand yes it had a boring white guy main character but like.... home depot just... Made it? And it had shit ton of box office sales? and no one even talks about this. this is like avatar (2009) all over again
OK so. After a lot of frantic googling I realized this was all a dream. home depot did not in fact produce a wildly successful science fiction musical. I was on allergy meds and took a nap and my brain simply prophesized this. slightly disappointed because I wanted to watch it.

Beautiful and kind, check. Looks like butter, sure.
But let's not overlook the elegant engineering of the soap dish itself: that graceful stem is positioned to let water drain out of the dish, avoiding the issue of "soap soup" that most soap dishes accumulate.

prev you're changing my brain chemistry
bed gets a lot of love and recognition as a place of comfort but what about shower. everybody give it up for shower
warm. built-in white noise machine. you can be productive while rotting because it gets you a little cleaner even if you're just standing/sitting there. kind of a migraine therapy. perfect place to cry or jerk off or both. or just zone out watching water droplets bounce around and get like six new creative ideas. come out feeling like you've got a new lease on life. did I mention it's warm. shower you will always be famous to me
Melon collies
I can no longer feel the infinite sadness
Rant about TJB marketing and closing because it won't leave my mind

happy if you have scholarly inclinations there is usually something wrong with your sexuality july
Stopping point if you find yourself on your phone doomscrolling, procrastinating, or âstuckâ
You can move to scroll in another space (if you havenât gotten out of bed yet, move to the couch; if you havenât left the house yet, you can sit outside)
You can make your current space more pleasant to scroll in (if itâs not possible to move spaces, open a window or light a candle in your space)
You can scroll while taking care of your body (change into clean clothes, scroll while brushing your teeth or washing your face, scroll while drinking water or having a snack)
You can stay on social media but avoid depressing or mindless content (try searching for fun facts, hobbies youâre interested in, or good news)
Hard mode: try just making the switch on your phone from short-form to long-form content (from dozens of short posts to an article, a fanfic, or an ebook; from TikToks/Reels/Shorts to a interesting or fun YouTube video, podcast, audiobook, or film) â this can be the first step in transitioning out of being âstuck,â because you can, for example, go on a walk while listening to an audiobook, fold clothes while watching a video, etc.
Expert mode: Set a timer for one minute and put down your phone. Do anything else. (Take deep breaths, go get a drink, pick up a book or craft.) If you can do this, aspire to two or five minutes and keep increasing your time away from scrolling. (Use your phone to play music, a podcast, or an audiobook if this prevents you from picking it up again)
Good luck! I hope you were able to make your scrolling a touch more cheerful today!
