Bright Spot: I have chapters one and three complete, but am really struggling to finish chapter two in a way that bridges the two. Will be looking at it again in October.
Nepotism (sequel to The General's Pleasure): Done! I'm now at the "stare at it for ten minutes a day until the typos show themselves" stage, which means about two weeks until posting.
CDI: this fic has been complete for going on two years, but I really hate it. As with BS, I'm happy with the beginning and the end, but the middle is just not working for me. I ended up going too far into the "Snoke is not nice" subplot of the India portion and getting too preachy about the inherent flaws of organized religion. I'd like to settle in and see if I can get it sorted before the holidays.

As stated, Nepotism is part two of the Blow of State series. I have notes down for at least four more installments (two sequels and two prequels) but it's a "wait and see" game with my mental health atm.

On the non-SW side of things, I've been picking at the outline for a 00Q fic for a while, and I think I'd like to have it done before 007 Fest next year. There may also be some Mystrade in the works, as that's what I've been reading lately.
Still not sure how to process RoS, so I went back in time and had my first shot at unadulterated Mikylux. Hux has secretly placed a holocam in Mitakaâs chambers and sees something he probably shouldnât. Turns out Kylo is very much into it and also unexpectedly nice when it comes to his partners.Â

Hux was busy. He was always busy. Even in his sleep he dreamed about being busy, and today was no exception. Tomorrow, heâd been informed by both his husbands, would be an exception, because tomorrow was Life Day.
There had been no fleet-wide holidays in the First Order, and the Empire had observed only Imperial anniversaries, but it seemed that the rest of the galaxy had continued with their own local traditions, as well as co-opting some from other cultures. There was nothing the general population liked more than an excuse for a party, so although it was primarily a Wookie celebration Life Day had become incredibly popular after Palpatineâs death.
Or so Kylo had told him.
Dopheld had nodded along, despite being born into the First Order and thus having even less experience than Hux with such things. Heâd pointed out the benefits to galactic morale that a state sanctioned holiday would produce, and in the end Hux had agreed.
He probably wouldnât have agreed if heâd known exactly how much effort this celebration would entail. Kylo had mentioned decorations, gifts and special food. He had not mentioned the palace being in uproar for three damn days before the event.
Hux was busy. He was trying to work. Unfortunately Kyloâs workspace was in his office while Dopheldâs was in the room next door, and whatever the hell they were working on required them to be walking in and out of that damn door every thirty seconds.
He was a military man. He could deal with noise, and bustle, and drama, what he could not deal with was the lascivious display every time those two met in the doorway. Which was almost every time they went through it.
There was no secret about their marriage, but this was far beyond what Hux would call an acceptable display of public affection. It had in fact reached the point that he suspected he was being goaded.
Heâd be properly focused on his work only to be distracted by the click of Dopheldâs boots across the tiles, followed by a muffled giggle, a chuckle, and then the sight of Kylo dipping Dopheld back for an exceptionally thorough kiss before they went on their way. Less than a minute later itâd be Kyloâs lumbering steps that broke his concentration, more sounds of mirth, and Dopheld dragging their husband down to his level by his oversized ears. Then the cycle would start anew.
It felt like this thing had been going on for hours, and not once had either of them thought to bestow any such favours on Hux.
He sat at his desk entirely unkissed, feeling unproductive and unloved, and going absolutely out of his mind with envy. This was beyond unfair.
Kylo passed in front of his desk, again, Dopheld giggled, again, Kylo murmured someth-
CRACK
Both his husbands were staring at him. They were standing together in the damn doorway again, Kylo already bent at the waist so they were pressed cheek to cheek, but at least now they were both staring at him instead of kissing. Why was a mystery.
âUh⊠did that datapad particularly offend you?â Dopheld asked with a worried look on his face.
Hux glanced down to find that heâd snapped the pad heâd been working on in half. When had he done that? How had he done that?
âAre you feeling alright?â
âYes.â He snapped.
âNo.â Kylo said in his usual smug âreading you with the Forceâ tone.
âIâm fine.â
âLiar. Youâre jealous.â
Hux glared at them both. âIâm not jealous, youâve just made it quite clear that I am entirely surplus to requirements.â
âArmitage, no offence,â Dopheld said, âbut what the frell are you talking about?â
âHe wants a kiss.â
âOh, well, you canât get kissed unless youâre under the mistletoe.â
Hux followed the line of Dopheldâs pointing finger up to the bundle of green and white hanging from the doorframe, but it didnât make things any clearer. All kinds of random objects had turned up around the palace over the last few days. There were several full-sized trees in the damn lobby. Did they have rules attached to them too?
Kylo shrugged. âItâs tradition.â
âEvery time you meet under that object you have to kiss?â Hux asked. âThatâs it? Nothing else?â
The other two shook their heads.
âFine.â
They watched as he grabbed another datapad, walked over, kissed them both, and then settled in to lean against the doorframe.
âVery well,â he said, âyou may now continue.â
Dopheld opened his mouth as if to say something, but after a moment he shook his head and went about his business. Business that now included kissing Hux as much as he actually deserved, at least when neither of their mouths were occupied with Kylo.

Two in the morning. The thoughtplodded along the neural pathways of Huxâs mind before squatting down andleaving a little gift at the doorstep of his conscious brain. Two. In thefucking morning.
âReach out as far as you can,â Kylo,whispering. The biggest oxymoron Hux could ever think ofâlike quiet explosions.Deep and sonorous, like a creature of the deep ocean or deep from the core of aplanet, stirring. Shifting, Mitaka rearranging himself and a soft noise ofassent. Curiosity took a wide, careful step over the ugly âtwo in the morningâpackage. Hux cracked an annoyed eyelid and slid his gaze until it took in thesight of Kylo sitting half upright, knees bents and framing Mitaka, whoreclined against his chest. Kyloâs arms were crossed over Mitakaâs chest; thesmaller manâs hands rested on the Knightâs knees. Â
They sat in silence for a fewmoments until Mitaka, soft as a summer breeze and just as warm, spoke.
âI donât feel anything,â
âDonât force it,â Kylo cautioned;Hux watched Kyloâs palms move from Mitakaâs chest to slide over the back of hishands. âJust let it come to you, feel the ebb and flow,â his fingers curled andstretched with the words, as if to demonstrate. âTry again,â His words feltlike distant thunder.
âAlright,â Mitaka relaxed into theembrace and began breathing deeply. The gathering silence began pressing downon Huxâs chest, dragging him back into sleep when he felt a rolling wave ofaffection rise up through the marrow of his bones. It settled in the crags ofhis joints, the hollow spaces behind his jaw and the base of his skull.Familiar and unmistakable, the feel of Kylo pushing his emotions out in theether. Mitaka mumbled and fell silent again and Kylo repeated the action. Huxfelt warmth seeping into his muscles, loosening them.
âI feel you,â Mitakaâs voice wasjarring for all itâs gentleness. âBut only because youâre sending it out. Icouldnât on my own,â there was a wind chime light note of guiltâno,disappointmentâin Mitakaâs voice. Kyloâs bass rumbled through the force,leaving the air around the three men empty and waiting.
Donât push too hard. Youâve tried. I love you. Itâs notsomething to worrâ
âGentlemen?âHux rolled fully over, taking in the scene with both eyes. His two loverstensed slightly before relaxing. âPlease. Shut up,â he stifled a yawn, but onlybarely. âI canât stand how appealing your voices are,â Â
