"PAPA WATCH OUT!" Chibiusa shouted before stepping in front of Mikal to take a tranquilizer dart that was aimed for him but she spotted it before it was too late and quickly blocked the dart from hitting Mikal and it hit her instead and before she knew it things slowly things got blurry and she passed out on the ground.

WHISPER COURT, my new webcomic/graphic novel, is releasing NOW on Tumblr, Webtoon, and Tapastic!
The Whisper Court Ghost Sanctuary has been a training ground for new paranormal investigators for over a hundred years. Each and every home is haunted by its own spirit, both helpful and vengeful.
All except for one.
An unnamed Ghost forms suddenly and unexpectedly within this unhaunted house. They have no memories of who they were before they appeared, something that catches the attention of the other Ghosts within the Sanctuary.
They must now attempt to gain a sense of identity before the month is over, or else they will cease to exist. All the while, more and more distractions pile up. Why is the Head Caretaker so interested in them? Why do they have no memory or past? Why do Ghosts keep disappearing from the neighborhood?
And why did all of this only start happening when they arrived?
The first 8 pages are all releasing here, today, throughout the day for our special release-day event! Follow this blog if you'd like to join us on our little journey together!

happy friday! how about Mikal and Sera with "Smell: Freshly baked goods."
ah this is really sweet, thank you :') I had fun
@dadrunkwriting
At least, Mikal thinks, peering into the ruins of the Rest's small kitchen, the walls are still intact.
"You! No!" Sera is drowning in an enormous frilly apron-- or Mikal thinks it's an apron; it could be an old curtain, she considers, as Sera tosses half the frilly mess over her shoulder and comes running, shaking a floury hand. "Out. Can't be here and now. It's got to be-- out! Who let you poke around anyway? Cabot said I had the floor."
"I'm not looking, I promise." She turns to face the kitchen door, hands in her pockets. "Only Dagna mentioned you needed a spoon."
"Who needs spoons? I've got spoons coming out my arse." Clanking sounds. Sera swears. "She sent you to stick your nose in my cookies."
Mikal risks a peek over her shoulder. "Are those berries?"
"What? I don't know. It's all good stuff. Sugar and... stuff. Haven't made cookies since forever. They're puffy and stupid in Orlais."
"I used to make tarts with my uncle," Mikal says. "Everyone said it was a miracle he made any money, because he had a sweet tooth the size of a mountain and ate half his own stock before sunup."
"Tarts," Sera muses. "Good for pinching. Sticky down your sleeve, though."
"I didn't like making them for a long time after he died, until my cousin wanted them for her wedding. So they were wedding tarts, not his. I suppose that made it alright." Her eyes sting a bit just thinking of it. That, or some of the expensive Rivaini spices Sera's dumping in the bowl are tickling her nose.
"Wedding tarts," Sera says. "That's sense. Not for you but something better. You liked the taste better, yeah?"
Mikal laughs. "I couldn't choke down a sodding crumb. I was crying over the smell of the jam. My cousin had to pass them around."
A spoon gets shoved an inch from her nose, plastered in lumpy dough. "You'll taste it and tell me it's all wrong," Sera says. "Please."
Too sweet, Mikal thinks, but if you like sweet, it's perfect. She works a gluey raisin off her back teeth. "Er, very chewy."
"I frigging hate raisins," Sera says cheerfully. "But that's cookies."
"So who are they for?"
Sera dodges away to dump something else in the batter. The sun catches her hair through the wee back window and turns it all to soft spun gold. "Like you said. Wedding tarts. I don't know. Cookies. Inquisition cookies, I guess. Unless they laugh. Or snap."
"No one will laugh at you," says Mikal. "But you have to give me the last one."
"You can have the whole frigging lot for all I care."
"Just one. It's an old Jenny tradition." She ambles over to brush flour off Sera's nose, and pinch it the way her aunt used to do. "Worrywart."
I meanāI wonder at what point I would be overstaying my welcome.
From what I can tell, there are always several guests in the Pentarra house at any given time. How closely are they monitored? Who authorizes their stays?
Pentarraās house is full of guards. The guards are not slaves, which makes sense, because theyāre more likely to do their job if theyāre paid. There are guards that stand at the gates and there are guards that stand at the door and there are guards that stand on either side of Pentarraās table in the dining hall. And theyāre armed.
Ruut Pentarra knows Iām here. I stick out, not being Twiāleki, and we have made eye contact in the dining hall a couple of times. Especially since Fannieās motherās table has been reinstated to its former place: the closest table to Pentarraās on the right side of the hall.
Last year, it was the furthest table. Pennie Pentarra, who despises her family, had it moved.
Pennie Pentarra does not come to meals anymore.
Sometimes I sit with Fannie and her mom and sisters, and sometimes I sit with Mikal on the menās side of the hall. In sitting with Mikal, I have sometimes found myself sitting with Vataash and Nabohri. They ignore me, which is probably for the best.
Iāve dropped a lot of names. I think most of Fannieās family deserves their own posts, so I wonāt analyze them all here. Butā¦
Have you ever seen a sabacc deck with royal cards?
Hereās an easy picture for you: Ruut Pentarra is the King. Pennie Pentarra is the Queen. Vataash is the Jack, Nabohri is the Joker, and Mikal, I think, would be the Ace.
Thatās the best way I can think to sum it up.
Fannie Pentarra, of course, is simply a Tenābut that may just be a personal opinion.
speaking of mikal i forgot to tell you that my husband had two things to say about mikal which were: āis he autisticā and āheās my favoriteā
personally pennieās my favorite, followed by nabohri, mainly bc i am evil, but i think mikal is a very clear winner according to my market research of 3-4 people specifically expressing that they liked mikal the best
