#mighty force

In the borrowed bedroom in the borrowed house, I felt a slowly growing peacefulness which became happiness and then joy. As I pulled the sheet tight and tucked it in, I remembered R once telling me of a 'bliss' that had come over her, a joy so strong that she had to sit down, cross-legged, on the ground and let it fill her completely I did this, on her gritty bedroom floor, hands on knees, eyes closed, facing her shelf of poetry; and I thought about the dark column of meaning (behind my left shoulder, where it used to manifest) and I let it step forward and enter me — it became me, I mean it fused with my spine, and I was full of such powerful joy that tears ran down my cheeks. Writing this now I'm still shaking with the force of it. It was my spine that took the meaning. Meaning entered me and became me. It was the Mighty Force. I wasn't afraid of it, in fact I summoned it, I called it and it came.

Devotional for March 8

"Pray ye therefore..." - Luke 10:2

Prayer is the mighty force that will move missionary work. Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest (Matthew 9:38).

We are asking God to touch the hearts of men every day by the Holy Spirit, so that they shall be compelled to go abroad and preach the gospel. We are asking Him to awaken them at night with the solemn conviction that the heathen are perishing and that their blood will be upon their souls. God is answering that prayer by sending persons to us every day who feel that the king's business [requires] haste (1 Samuel 21:8).

Beloved, pray, pray, pray. And as petitions rise to the heavens there will be a period of silence in heaven, and the coals of fire will be emptied out upon the earth, and the coming of the Lord will begin to draw nearer. Pray until the Lord of the harvest shall thrust forth laborers into His harvest.
