Itâs like listening to some cray-cray priest suffering from lust for a girl whoâs just doing her own thing and enjoying life, even sex, while the guy goes crazy. But the gender flip here.
Astarion is supposed to behave like the male-Virgin Mary to be true, free and loved, I guess.
First came Cazadorâs slavery, now pseudo-progressive tone-policing lectures of fixers.
+100. The association with the cray-cray priest is spot on. And where before there was âGod's willâ, now there are pseudo-progressive lectures. The fixer's cope is also based on some âfaithâ, there are âdogmasâ - their headcanons, which are presented as some âtruthâ. Oh yes, and âsoulâ, âlose his soulâ. Even this religious concept is presented specifically in a religious context, in complete isolation from the game's story and DnD lore. There's a reason they're sometimes called the âChurch of the Spawnâ, lol. And the main âmessageâ of their narrative is to keep Astarion from being free. And the church needs the concept of âsinâ, what's better than âsexâ as a âstigma for the sinnerâ? And after the Ascension, Astarion gets to enjoy life, and in the UA path there is suffering of the flesh and forced âasceticismâ. But usually fixers gloss over this, devalue it, call it a more convenient word for them ârestrictionsâ. Redemption. And let's not forget the devil⊠You know, it's generally interesting how those, who call themselves progressive, have taken a terry conservative ideology, in all its worst manifestations, made a gender flip and voila! The Church of the Fixers opens its doors - redeem yourselves, sinners.
