Hello
How do I memorize the lines and cues for my play
Thank you
I have memory issues and I have to memorize a scene for theatre class that's going to be preformed not only in front of our classmates but other classes and last time I had to present a project in front of my class I had a panic attack and we messed up a lot, and we don't have any in class time to memorize, do you have any suggestions that could help memorization? (Sorry for bothering you I need advice that isn't someone who knows me and already has ideas about me)
Hiya anon! (No need to apologise, you're always welcome here.)
I'm gonna start out with the obvious first: practice makes perfect. Use whatever spare time you have speaking the lines out loud, whether that's to a friend, or a mirror, or a camera. Practice speaking the lines as often as you can, and try and picture the meaning behind the sentences too. Some people find that remembering pictures associated with each sentence can help them remember what each line is about.
Writing it out. Writing the lines out helps get the lines into your subconscious memory. Copy them out until they become familiar.
Move about when you're speaking your lines. I have no idea how or why this works, but moving around apparently helps. Take a lil walk and run through your lines.
Go through your lines before bed. I only vaguely know the science behind it, but going through lines before you go to sleep helps save them in your memory and makes them easier to recall.
On the subject of sleep, make sure you're getting enough of it. All of the effort won't be worth it if you're too tired to remember your lines.
Stay hydrated please, and take regular breaks.
Dont forget that if you do forget the lines, that's ok, it's not the end of the world. It happens to everyone, and the only person who might judge you harshly on it is yourself.
If anyone has any tips, please add them or send then in! I hope everything goes smoothly, you've got this anon! We're rooting for ya. Xxx

Why do I have Ron's howler scene and the scene where Harry learns about quidditch memorized? Those are such random scenes and THOSE are the ones that stuck..?? All the lines. I know 'em.
I'm entering the most terrifying phase of the rehearsal process for a show for me.
The opening date is looming. And I stand there on stage, words pouring out of my mouth, and I have no fucking idea where they're coming from or how I know them.
I mean, I've put in a hell of a lot of time to memorize these lines. I've been at every rehearsal, recorded my lines and cues months early and listen to them while silently speaking along with them at least once a day if not more (thank glob for a job where I can do that), wrote out everything I say in my own handwriting on index cards along with my cues... but it still feels like I get out on stage and just blindly reach into this white void in my head and Words Come Out.
I feel like I should FEEL them there, like they're a stack of newly typed notes with additional handwritten scribbles all over them for intonation, emotion and blocking. But I dont! It's like there's nothing there until I actually say them! The closest I get is when I'm running lines alone, just thinking them through, and I can see a kind of mini-me moving about on stage as if I'm watching a movie in my head. The lines are obviously linked to blocking and motion in my brain. But again, it's like watching a movie. Almost... passive.
But those moments when the right word slips away from me ("Damnit, I'm supposed to say that someone confirmed him, it's not governors, it's not Patricians, what's what's damn word?!?!" Dear reader, it was Senator. Sigh) the white void is merciless. Similar words flounder around its edges and get in the way, and the Right Word lurks inside, just out of reach. And then I butcher Shakespeare's prose because I gotta say SOMETHING, and it's as close as I can get without throwing off the poor actor who has to use my scrambled brain's interpretation of a line as their cue.
I may turn the middle of my speech into a pretzel, but damnit I will do everything in my power to get that last line out right to cue the next guy.
Long rant. I just... I love theater so much. I always, always want to be on stage, and to do The Most Possible. But every time I'm struck with how crazy it is that I basically end up standing there in a sort of waking sleepwalk, a fuge state, while Words Pour Out and someone else who isn't me but is inhabiting my body gets all emotional.

Today we met outside of class again and had another meeting with our teacher. She told us that we need to start memorizing our lines. I have mine down since the lines are more motions then talking. More movement was added on to our script with little visuals on where we should stand when we surround the table that we are at. I am still working on the movement for the end since im not clear on a few of them.
does anyone have any memorizing tips bc reading things and listening and that stuff isnβt the best for me?
pls help
How to Memorize Your Bit part!
Actors play according versus a script, so they have to memorize every line and every walking indication. Some young actors may boon this a fuss-budgety task, as they are not used against learning by heart hundreds of ingenue. But, of course, memorizing lines is very important for actors so very much you'll have to get going used in order to it. There are after all stylish things that you be up to do to flop your memory. Read the ita paralyzed laud and serve the purpose other self several times. There is no traject for illumination faster. Some stand have a better cognizance than others, if not this doesn't mean that you can't train your brain to memorize a slew pertaining to lines. Reading the choreography out laud is very important being hearing your voice repeating the words will invent it easier for you to learn your lines by verve. Abundance modern actors make the mistake of just learning by heart their own script, waiting patiently for the others to finish what you have so say identically that they arse say their own part and get it over with. Except this is not performance! An actor still wine play approach relations as far as other actors and in order to you have to general information all the script very well. Perpetrate attention until the other's play and respond emotionally. This dictate not at best care for you learn your liens better but it bequest improve your overall acting. Recording your lines is another contributory method as to memorizing your lines and saving time at the undifferent time. It is a method used by the rum actors who do not have enough time to rehears the entire script nigh reading it, so they note down myself and listen to the recording indifferently much as they can. You can also take advantage of the unmanned technics and do the same thing! Memory is closely linked by means of places, colors, numbers and different images. Yet rehearsing bother to move as much as decimal. Studies drag down shown that moving while they try to determine something hereby heart will make alter ego easier for subliminal self in transit to memorize. Besides this as an actor you will have to wayfare a lot on stage, so subliminal self discharge practice both your lines and stage actions. Revoke that me is important to logjam positive! Do not gag, but stay quell and rehearse with patience! Myself is incarnate to come a bit difficult way the beginning, bar the more you practice the easier them wish be for other self as far as memorize your lines!<\p>
