Jeff Bezos and Patrick Soon-Shiong, owners of The Washington Post and The Los Angeles Timesâ respectively, refused to allow the papersâ editorial boards to endorse Kamala Harris.The most embarrassing current example of this appeasement was the spectacle of Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinksi of MSNBCâs Morning Joe announcing on live television that they had visited Donald at Mar-a-Lago. Brzezinksi said the following:For those asking why we would speak to the president-elect during such fraught times, I would ask back: Why wouldnât we? Itâs time to do something different, and that starts with not only talking about Donald Trump, but talking with him.Why wouldnât you? Because, if you have integrity, if you believe your own warnings, you do not ever make common cause with fascists. Thatâs why.â

How has our news system gotten to a place of no accountability, no human decency or respect?

I suspect that we all believe we gravitate toward news sources that are the most fair and balanced.
Furthermore, we pride ourselves on being open-minded and willing to consider various ways of looking at things. But thatâs not happening, is it? We keep returning to the same comfortable watering holes over and over, which only calcifies our opinion and exacerbates our division.
We think we can spot the difference between news and opinion, but can we?

CNN has an opinion column with the headline, "We have nothing to fear from the migrant march." Say that to the working class worker whose wages have declined as more people come in, eventually replacing him. To the taxpayers who have to pay the bills for all the services they receive, that the average American can't afford. To the local governments and educators overwhelmed by too many people who can't read and write in their own language, let alone English. The only ones benefiting are capitalist plutocrats who want cheap labor with no care when automation makes them permanently unemployed.
