#measuring cups

Like a few hours ago I was making pancakes using those pancake mix that come in a box.

I was reading the instructions and read 1/4 cup of water (I decided to use milk instead because it's better)

So I poured a 1/4 cup of milk in my batter and when I looked at the instructions again for the next step, I notice that it actually says 1/2 and not 1/4.

I stared at the box to make sure that I wasn't going crazy and yup, it says 1/2

So to fix my mistake, I poured milk into my 1/2 measuring cup, and then I poured milk from the 1/2 measuring cup to the 1/4 measuring cup and made sure not to spill.

Once the 1/4 measuring cup was full. I poured whatever was left on the 1/2 measuring cup into my batter.

The pancakes turned out great but god damn was it a hassle.

Me: if you cut something in three, are the pieces bigger than if you cut it in half?

Sister: you don't have to be a fucking asshole all the time.

Later

Sister: my measuring cups are missing! I still can't find my half cup! All I have is a third cup!

Me: a third plus half a third is one half
