Though he pushes back into the kiss, hard, Matt’s expression is the most offended Ian has ever seen it when they part. His brows are pressed together half in anger and half in frustration that Ian could shut him up so. The way his lips remain parted makes Ian think Matt might go right back to yelling so loud that Snickers scrambles to hide behind the closest piece of furniture, but he doesn’t.
Matt rushes at Ian in a way that the younger man is familiar with by this point, and with one hand firmly at the back of Ian’s neck, Matt initiates the kiss this time, officially tabling their argument for a later time.
Our muses are in the middle of a screaming match. Send “Shhh” for my muse’s reaction to yours suddenly kissing them to stop the yelling.

Matt glances at the text message that had him running home so fast for his lunch break as he waits for the elevator doors to open. He rushes out when they do and in his excitement, fumbles with the keys much longer than he would've if he didn't have a hand already unbuttoning his coat. He's halfway through unbuttoning his shirt by the time he walks into the apartment, but is quick to spot Ian.
Seeing his boyfriend sprawled across the couch on his stomach, Matt's shoulder relax. He smiles in an amused manner as he walked further into the living room, both hands buttoning his shirt back up. He steps over Ian's backpack as he approaches the couch and lifts the younger's legs for a moment so he can sit down and then rest them on his lap. He reaches over for the t.v. remote and flips it on to a low volume.
Ian shifts slightly at the sound but Matt just slides a hand under the t-shirt of the beat college student and brushes his skin lightly. "Go back to sleep, kid."
"Don’t fall in love with me, kid." mcpagen, haleson
mcpagen:
His words say, "Don’t fall in love with me, kid."
But his lips say I’m cold, every time they press between Ian’s shoulder blades and his hands say I need someone to hold, as they drag across Ian’s chest. His arms they scream for company, whenever they stretch around Ian’s entire body. His chest, it echoes, “always stay this close,” whenever Ian presses his ear to it. And Matt’s fingertips beg, for another soul, when they brush across Ian’s scratchy cheeks. His forehead pleads for it to always have, the warmth of another pressed to it.
And his eyes they say, repeatedly, “Kid, I’ve already fallen in love with you.”
haleson:
Matt doesn’t actually think there’s a chance of it happening, because he’s noticed that he doesn’t quite fit in the hole that only what he can assume is a former lover, left in Oliver’s heart. But sometimes he notices Oliver’s eyes when they lay together, when Oliver wants nothing more than to not feel so rotten anymore. He notices the way Oliver has been making himself at home in Matt’s apartment more frequently than he did in the beginning. And Matt notices that sometimes in the middle of the night, Oliver moves closer to absorb the warmth under his arm. Matt’s done the same thing too many times himself to not see the signs, so one day when they’re pressed together, warm and content to every extent, he kisses Oliver more delicately than he has in months and between the nips, and touches and pecks, he says almost too quietly, "Don’t fall in love with me, kid."
"I sort of do, kid," he offers a small smile. "My broody disposition is a conversation for another day though," he says, shifting closer to Ian on the couch, draping an arm around the younger's shoulder and leaning in towards him.
"It's been a long two non-stop work days so there are other things I'd like to talk to you about now." Matt's eyes lower to Ian's lips before he closes the gap between them.

"Hey, how's everybody doing tonight?" Chris says cooly with a smile as he stands and looks around the venue. There aren't enough eyes looking back at him to make him edgy but there is a crowd and he tries to look only at familiar faces to stay collected.
"So Matt here, kept telling me over and over to write something down for this," he gestures with a finger to Matt, who is seated one down the table from him. "Because he knew me well enough to know I would procrastinate till I was up here, forced to wing it. Now Ian," he glances at the man sitting beside him, looking right back at him with traces of an amused smile, "Ian didn't even bother telling me to do something so I'd be prepared or warn me that I'd be put on the spot the day of because he knew it wouldn't make a difference. And that's why I'm his best man tonight."
Chris looks to the happy couple beside him before turning back to the rest of the guests and continuing.
"Uh, so I know I'm probably supposed to start this with a 'when I first met Ian' story but that's a very average stupid college kid story that would probably bore more people than it would entertain. What I will tell you about is how the receptionist at my step-mom's summer home thinks that she has two sons the same age and a daughter. About how the receptionist asked D-" he pauses, very briefly, eyes catching his father's seated out among the crowd.
"-my dad how one of his sons turned out blonde when everyone else in the family was darked hair and my dad telling her that the grandparents were blonde instead of telling her 'oh he's my kid's best friend, that's how.' About how my little sister to this day calls our apartment 'Ian's house' even now after Ian's been living with Matt for...what two years?" Chris looks back to Matt and Ian, one of whom nods.
"How Ian and I met doesn't really matter because now, he's family. He's been family for a real long time and that's what matters. He's not just my family but he's my dad's family and my sister's and my step-mom's. He's Eni's family," as he says her name Chris glances to the girl seated on his other side, "and he's Hal's family. And if you're sitting here right now on his wedding day, chances are he's your family too because that's just who Ian is. He's family to everyone he meets from the moment he meets them cause he's got this heart so fucking big-" he stops and glances over to where Dean is sat with his daughter on his lap, "Sorry, 'Dele, this is really ad-libbed, close your years."
He chuckles and grips the mic a little tighter when he continues. "He has a really, really big damn heart and I don't have to tell any of you for you to know that. Hell, if tonight's the first night you're meeting the guy you probably know it already. And that's why I have faith in this," he looks down at Ian with a grin, clapping a hand on the other's shoulder.
"I mean, I have faith in you too, Matt," Chris shifts over to look at the older man, "I let you order drinks for me at this point, it would be impossible for me not to have faith. This is gonna work and this is gonna be great cause you lucked out, man, you really did."
Matt's smile broadens as he hears the words and he nods. His hand holding Ian's on top of the table tightens and he spares Ian a fond glance before looking back to Chris.
"You found the Ian I've known for years and you brought out a side to him that not a lot of people get to see. You took the guy I didn't think could get any better and you made him better. And that's why I'm here." Chris turns his gaze from Matt back to the guests. "Because you guys are gross and make me think maybe happy endings are thing and all that good movie stuff."
He looks back to Ian and offers his friend a genuine smile, the hand still on his shoulder. "I love you, man," he says a bit quietly, though the mic still catches it. And then before Ian can respond and make him too sentimental, Chris looks over to Matt, "And I love you too, don't get too antsy, I saw you open your mouth there, asshole."
Immediately he looks back in the crowd to his sister, "Last time, sorry!"
"Anyway," he clears his throat, pulling back his seat, indicating that he's almost done, "All the best to you crazy kids." He raises his champagne glass a little and takes a sip before reaching obnoxiously over the table to pass the mic over to Hal.
