Nora figure preview from Mcfarlane.
On the Post about McFarlene I made
IF this comes off as debatable/respondable- PLEASE take it to me directly (asks/mail) I rather not make a public display of opinions that won't break and destroy the dashboards of my followers who aren't involved/don't care. It's a humble request I hope can be met
I can agree on the fact his jokes are lazy. That I don't refute, but I will say I still find him funny because American Dad and Family Guy make me laugh on a weekly basis. Now I don't laugh because of the level of jokes. I laugh on the situation humor I see. Knowing in reality I'd never condone those actions (the Meg jokes, the constant emotional abuse of haley in American Dad, etc)
HOWEVER what I am probably going to word wrong so if I do, please help me out with pointing out because I know that I'm walking that tightrope that if one word is out of place I'll be cast into hell and oblivion when I meant otherwise. So here goes:
Here on tumblr, I see all the time (could be different for others) that everyone wants equality, EVERYONE wishes for a more tolerant world where everyone accepts everyone for who they are. I am agreeing with this ideal. I'd love for the concept that the "basis of tumblr" were common practice, (no hate towards gays, women equal with men and the rest of the rules that honestly would take a lifetime for me to list out but at the moment I can't think of that many which I honestly apologize for, omitting them doesn't mean I wish to belittle them) HOWEVER- the one thing I also see is those same people wishing for said equality don't like if you challenge their point of view.
Now I am not saying either side of any argument is right, or any side is wrong. I am not defending McFarlene's jokes on their level of ugliness laziness/good/bad level. I refuse to watch the Oscars because honestly- they bore me when for 2+ hours I watch celebrities pat each other on the ass and glorify each other. It's bad enough all my social news feeds are cluttered with it. But I will say that I personally like Family Guy and American Dad. I know the "low key" humor is used in it. I also know his standard issue sexist, racists, domestic violence, religious jokes are the bane of a lot of people's existence as well as I know that as a liberal himself that constantly pushes publicly for more progressive ideas in society- I don't take his jokes as personally as people do. Maybe that is just me.Â
Seth McFarlene is not a saint. NOR is he the demon who is out to destroy the work that women's rights activists have made, gay rights activists, or any other progressive activists have made. He is however one man who HAS for 12 years now fought on the side of pointing out the ugly truth of BOTH sides to any social argument. No matter how ugly it's made him. He has used the religion issue to cover how both atheists and those of faith are going about the entire argument WAY off base. Instead of trying to live together and work together both sides fight it out trying to exploit each others differences. When it comes to the other social issues he points out, he DOES make himself the Pariah in the hopes that his message does get through. Most times it falls between cracks and the shows cater to the lowest common denominator.
I probably worded my original post wrong in saying to get over it and just DEAL, when I should have extended it a bit to- if it bugs you: turn of the Oscars. Stop watching it, hell complain to him directly on his twitter or something. I doubt complaining in mass amounts on tumblr really does anything other than cause the lovely wars we see popping up everywhere.
Tl/Dr: McFarlene is far from being a GOOD guy, but I personally find him funny and I do think that as someone who got to enjoy the receiving end of a lot of Jew jokes and "nerd jokes" (a few of them physical resulting in ME being the suspended party from school instead of my assailants) in high school for being different than a bunch of rednecks who loved poking the bear. I learned that laughing at my differences helped me get through a lot. Including the "crap" on Family Guy and American Dad as well as other sources (george carlin, futurama, etc) that are good, bad or ugly to the rest of the world- it's been helpful for me in building a tougher outer shell. As well as learning what buttons are not worth reacting to. I guess
Seth McFarlene is such a good looking guy.

The official trailer for Seth MacFarlane's "Ted" starring Mark Wahlberg (John), Mila Kunis (Lori) and Seth MacFarlane (Guy).
I have to admit, from what Linkara shows, the comic isn't completely awful, however, I have to feel it doesn't seem as appealing as the animated version, which was much better drawing you into the story.
