Hi I'm from Tiktok, I remember when you first started writing LOF!
I just think it's funny that when I asked you how long you thought it was going to be you said it would be 15 chapters at most and now we're at like 19(?) which isn't a lot but I still think that's funny :D
to be fair i was so confident in myself. i had a real belief i'd be less Insane About It this time. and then i repeated the same mistake i made many times before. the like 200k harry potter fic i wrote a million years ago haunts me. the 100k fairy tail Lucy villain au also haunts me. they're the reason i am the way i am

adhd (i think) creatur
just kinda a visual representation of how i feel.
probably could've exaggerated more but eh
MY FUCKING M KEY IS BROKEN WHY MUST I PRESS SO HARD
oh and a wip haven't shown one of these in a while (actually maybe i have idk i kinda forgot i had social media like at all so sorry for not feeding you guys :P )
So I've learned, over my lifetime, that I am not a very tidy person. But I've been sort of slowly uncovering the secret to being able to have my life in some kind of order, and that is that if while I have novelty on my side, I devote thought and effort to coming up with a kind of organizational system and make sure everything has 1) a clear place to be put away that, far more importantly, 2) it's easy to get it back into, then I will be able to maintain a system of some kind and have a long-term usable space/item/concept.
I cannot rely on habit or routine or momentum to keep a thing going. But if I have set it up so that every time I encounter a thing, I can easily, clearly put it back the way I found it, or do whatever the task is supposed to be, then I will be able to interact with it and have it not degrade beyond recollection.
So the newly-remodeled kitchen has managed to mostly not fall into disaster. There's now a dishwasher, and everything has a place it belongs in, mostly. There are a couple little Disaster Pile areas here and there, but the functional areas of the kitchen are easy enough to keep clear. (I am particularly proud of my custom Narrow Cabinet For Cookie Sheets And My Breadboard, which mean I can use that breadboard all the time because it's easy to get out and easy to put back in.) (Also my Cast Iron Frying Pan Hooks, so those two cast iron pans can be very frequently used and then put away. Before, the cast iron was all in a stack, which was as you can imagine a fucking disaster because to lift the stack out to retrieve the one pan was like, fifty pounds. So the pan lived on the stove, and meant the stove was never cleaned off.)
Anyway, on that philosophy, I immediately set about organizing the upright freezer. (cut to discuss that, and a photo of the organizing in progress)
The thing about an upright freezer is that you can only stack so much on the shelves, so you need bins to go on there. So it makes sense for me to immediately number those bins, and then give each one a theme. And I was shopping online for bins, and they were all quite expensive, and then I realized that I hoard "nice" cardboard boxes constantly. So within about ten minutes I had retrieved myself five perfectly-sized bins, and then made them nice decorative labels out of white paper and Sharpie, and then there's a whiteboard with a key that says what's in each bin. I'm going to make a cardstock permanent key for the theme, and then the specific inventory can be in whiteboard.
Because I've tried inventorying the freezer before and then I never remember to cross off what I used, and then it's useless except as a historical reference of what I've had in the past. BUT if instead I know that Bin 1 is all poultry, and I had a couple packs of wings at some point, then I can pull that bin out and rifle through and if I've still got a pack of wings I can find it in short order, and if not I can go back and erase "wings" from the inventory list in annoyance, and rejigger my meal plan.
[image ID: The interior of an upright freezer, with several cardboard boxes on a few of the shelves, labeled "Bin 1", "Bin 2", "Bin 4". There are a few larger items stacked loose on various shelves and in the door pockets, and a lot of empty space.]
(I've realized that if I type this in the "alt" box it doesn't show up in any way if the image actually loads, nor can you get it to load, if you've put it behind the cut. on the dash i can find image descriptions just fine, but not behind a cut. so my prior entries with images behind a cut did have caption/IDs in them, but you would never have known that, alas.)
Anyway. This is the in-progress. The other fun thing is of course I can load the bins on the counter, and then open the freezer and put them away instead of having the freezer stand open while I work. So that's nice from an energy-use perspective.
I have discovered a fair amount of stuff I didn't know I had, already, and it's mostly stuff I'm delighted to know about and thus use. Having my meat separate from my poultry separate from my sausage/cured meats is a good start. The vegetables are... I have so few, I couldn't even fill a bin. I would like to have an inventory of vegetables! I guess the point is that I'm stockpiling things I only intermittently get, namely farm meats. But I used to do a lot of work at the farm freezing and putting away vegetables for future use, and then I never got any of those because they just went straight into the farm freezer. Next year I can be more aggressive about it and set some aside for myself. (There will be more freezer space there too, if this winter's plans go well.)
So the tentative plan is that I will reserve the upstairs freezer for like, open packages of things, and stuff in current/short term rotation. I would like to go stock up on some convenience foods and vegetables this week. One of the routines Dude and I have managed to settle into after all these years is that we do a meal plan together every week, and then one of us (usually him) goes grocery shopping after we have the plan. And part of that is always rummaging through the freezer and getting out meats to defrost for the week's meals. I don't think going to the basement to check the inventory and then rummage will be significantly harder; in fact I think it will be easier. So I'm really excited for this because I can see it settling into our lifestyle pretty seamlessly.
Another thing I'm excited for, and have left half a shelf empty for, is baked goods. My bread-baking method involves reviving my sourdough, feeding it up, then making bread dough, and letting it go overnight and then proof the next day, and it's complicated and tricky to get the timing right and I always have to be like "ok we'll have soup this week but I need like, three or four or maybe five days to get the bread ready" and
really I would like to get a little backlog where I get a loaf risen, proofed, and then par-baked, and stick it into the freezer so that if I want soup with bread for one of my meals, I can just go into the freezer while I'm getting out the meats for the week, and pull out the bread loaf and plunk it on the counter and then bake it that night and there's our soup-with-bread meal.
So that's my project this upcoming week, I'm going to feed up the sourdough starter again and do a loaf every couple of days, and then stockpile them in the basement. I have a specific loaf pan I use that makes a loaf we can eat in two or three meals, which is ideal.
(I have three of those loaf pans actually, so what i might do is get three loaves done and then hold them to proof in the fridge until the last one's ready, and then parbake them all while i'm doing something else, but that's just a theory.)
I would like ideally to have a bunch of baked goods stockpiled like that, because Actually Getting The Mixer Out is such a hassle I almost never do it. So. Anyway. We'll see.
But anyway. Mostly what I'm up to lately is sewing. I have this lovely cutting table in the basement I don't want to use when it's sunny because it's always dark in the basement, but guess what, the sun never comes out becasue it's december. so I've cut out a number of garments. The sewing machine is set up in the attic and it's too cold to work up there lately but I brought it down and set it up in the office because Dude's been taking his meetings in the kitchen lately, and I'll put the machine away again on Monday but this weekend I'm determined to finish this blouse, a wool winter dress, and a summer linen skirt. I have so many patterns I've been wanting to make and would wear, so it's really important to me to get some of these banged out. I'm tired of wearing clothes I don't like.

Is it an autism thing to take “favourite thing” so seriously?
I don’t mean comfort objects or hyperfixations, I mean if someone asks you your favourite food, you have to meticulously calculate what should be the correct answer instead of going with your gut…
Like first break down your favourite food group based on taste, health, how much it represents your personality AND/or personal history with the food. Then pick a particular dish that involves those ingredients that you have eaten and enjoy consistently. It needs to not only be tasty to you but one you in theory wouldn’t get sick of soon AND matches your vibe as a person… we are talking about food.
Don’t get me started on what my favourite show is… the show I’m FIXATED on, I have an answer, but it’s constantly changing which means it cant hold the title of favourite based on that alone. My favourite show cant just be the one I like the most right now, it needs an objective reason to be my favourite…
I find it interesting that you can tell a lot about the different alters based on their versions of the Moon Knight suit. [this is all based on what’s in the show on Disney+, so take it with a grain of salt]
Marc wears the ceremonial armor that looks incredibly similar to Khonshu[white bandages that look like mummy bandages, hints of gold here and there, symbol of a crescent moon on the chest, etc]. It shows that Marc knows what he's doing as Moon Knight/serving Khonshu. Yeah, he's 100% damaged and traumatized to no end, but he's been there doing that when it comes to "Moon Knight 101."
Meanwhile, you have Steven[the museum-obsessed kid who joined "Moon Knight 101" way too late] with a completely different Moon Knight look: a white three piece suit with no wrinkles, white gloves, dress shoes, and a mask with a crescent moon on the forehead of the ski mask [I think that's what it's called?]. This not only shows Steven's inexperience with Moon Knight shenanigans, but also his own interpretation of the hero himself: a nonthreatening polite gentleman rather than a bandage-covered vigilante/servant. He’s trying to understand all of the chaos in his own way, kind and still learning. Also, in Steven's defense, Marc told him to wear the suit while he was falling from a building; he didn't specify what kind of suit.
Then you have Jake. While he may not have an official suit, let's just assume it's the black-and-white version in the comics. Despite it still having traits of Khonshu [white crescent moon symbol on the chest, the white flowy moon-like cape], it looks nothing like Khonshu at the same time. It's intimidating looking more like Batman with the majority black of the suit, it's vastly different from Steven's and Mark's white and gold color scheme, yet it still matches Jake's cold almost deadly personality.
Am I sad y'all. I was washing dishes last night and was thinking about scifi (as you do). I was wondering about gravity for this ship the mc is on (in my book). I dropped a cup into the water and I liked how long it took to get to the bottom of the sink. And naturally I want an exact number
So I measured how heavy the cup was. How many seconds it took for it to drop. And the height from the bottom of the sink to where I dropped it from
so the gravity on this ship is 0.16N/kg.
Is this normal. y'all. Why did i need to know the specific gravity. y'all
