Is it ableism how many fandom discussions especially those that focus around media literacy will have some people who when they disagree with you will say things like calling you brain damaged, illiterate, stupid, incompetent, etc? As if they truly wish to say the r slur but don't want to ruin their image.

I had this happen recently and it is extremely painful as I had gone to special education as extra classes as a child due to learning disabilities and also had a suspected TBI due to a traumatic fall as a baby that never really fully dismissed the notion of it as possible. Of course people online don't know this as I haven't shared but it hurts and makes me leave every fandom I join.

My struggling doesn't make me stupid. I'm still trying I look up anything I don't know but people get mad when you ask questions and anytime you don't understand something they say brain damaged..

This is ableism.
