Thank you for what you said about not being ashamed of past art. I haven’t drawn in so long, I just gave up on it. I want to start again and do it because I used to love it, but not being good or “amateur” is holding me back. I just needed to hear you say how it’s ok not to be amazing at first and to know with time there will be improvement. 💜
Anon! I am pretty sure you're not the only one with that problem. And believe me, up to this date I still struggle with "being an amateur" and not being good enough.
Especially starting a new hobby as a teenager/adult can be very scary and discouraging, at the beginning. You see all these people who are much younger and much more skilled than you are and you begin to compare yourself. Maybe even feel ashamed of your own work, feel scared, feel as if you're just one out of 100 Billion people who do art. As an adult we always think that whatever we do has to be perfect already, while a young child just tries and learns and fails and tries again without shame, without comparison, without any pressure. It's like that when it comes to art but also when it comes to learning a new language, a new sport or new instruments.
I feel like we truly should stop expecting so much from ourselves. If we saw our friend starting a new hobby we'd never expect them to be perfect at it right from the start.
I truly believe good things take time. And we should allow ourselves to take as much time as we need. For as long as it makes us happy that should be reason enough to risk it. 💜

On a personal note: I've been drawing years and years before posting my art online. I drew as a 3 year old, drew as a ten year old and am still drawing as a 20 year old. And still I see flaws in my art. But it doesn't bother me any longer. I feel proud of how far I've come and feel proud of doing it all on my own. Art is you. You are your art. It's no one else. And shouldn't everyone be proud of who they are? No matter where they are on their journey.
Make a move
How to get the motivation to get fit and in shape any ideas? If not that is also ok xd A hufflepuff tired if everything
I just have to convince myself to do it and usually once I start I don’t want to stop.Finding something you enjoy (rock climbing or dance classes are ones I’ve found as well as just going at a punching bag) it’s easier. If you reward yourself (I’ll do this for half an hour and then watch my show for example) than it’s easier.Hope that helps!-Mel (the Slytherin)
