Even if he's a Diamond, he's still partially human. So he's still gonna get hurt.

Although it's rare, it's still bound to happen if he isn't careful. If anything, it's most likely to happen during his tantrums if he's not careful with his swings. Bones rarely break, but skin is definitely gonna tear on sharp objects and bruise on impact.

And while he does have the ability to heal himself still, He doesn't try to. One because he doesn't like the idea of kissing himself or shedding tears in front of other gems, and two, it gives him a chance to relive a simpler time, before the responsibilities, expectations and knowledge of the Gem.

It also gives him an excuse to keep Fluffy around his court longer; she's often used for tasks of either training, patrolling or transporting heavy materials all over the empire, thus she hardly sees him. He doesn't outright say it, but he thinks the Diamonds keep her away from his court on purpose.

They say he shouldn't be "distracted" and there's other "more suitable" gems, especially his own pearl to cater to him, but regardless of how they spin it, there will never be a gem like Fluffy to him.

There's no gem on homeworld that would go through the effort to make the zoo-man fruit into different snacks or dishes or make a sweet tea that settled him down from nearly any range of stress he got. Not even the pebbles could even make or suggest the furniture and items she does to bring him comfort.

But no matter what, Fluffy was a "useful beast" in the empire. Nothing more. And if she is to stay unbubbled she must be making herself useful around the empire by all means at all times.

So, he opted to just make use of that logic and. By giving her a duty to fulfill and giving him just a little more time with her.

Besides, if he shows just how valuable she is, she'll be allowed some leniency.

After all, who could scorn a gem so devoted to her diamond?

Note: in this AU, he's only known for the "negative" diamond powers. He withholds his healing ability because if the Diamonds caught wind of it, they'll stop sending Fluffy to tend to his wounds, seeing how it would be a waste of time.

Note 2: Fluffy can't outright buy medicine for obvious reasons, and the only times she can get proper equipment is from snagging supplies of poachers. So she opted to teach herself to make salves and tea from the herbs and leaves of Earth. And this also gives it value; thus the Diamonds don't see a reason to destroy it. (for now.)

Oh, and yeah, I kinda designed that pearl on the spot since;

I wouldn't expect White to give up "her own" Pearl [back] to him so easily.

They needed a gem more befitting to serve him rather than the hairy corruption they were forced to deal with.

Of course as a child, he was susceptible to illness since his gem powers weren't completely activated at the time, hence leaving him with a vulnerable immune system.

Of course, I don't know if Homeworld even has weather cycles, but he did sometimes visit other planets with other Gems in order to learn the importance of colonization. Depending on the weather or landscape of that place in general, he might pick up a cold or fever.

Of course, Homeworld, being ever so clueless towards anything human, don't understand why Pink is suddenly behaving pathetically; sniffling and grossly leaking from his nose. On top of that, there were complains of "headaches, sore throats," and "not feeling good." They didn't understand any of it, so they assume it was an odd phase of some sort. But as time went on, it kept getting worse. Not even a Spinel could get rid of such misery! And a Diamond in such a state is no good for the Empire. So, regrettably, they eventually turn to Fluffy, since she had knowledge on Pink's "new form."

It took a while for them to fully grasp, but eventually she managed to convince the Diamonds that it wasn't a phase and that he was in genuine distress and needed attention. Given how they don't know how to deal with it, and refuse to learn how it all works, they leave it all to Fluffy.

It took a lot of reading from "borrowed books" but eventually, she learned with the right herbs can cure just about any illnesses that may arise, along with rest and warmth. And being Fluffy, she made sure her lil Diamond was comfortable and monitored during his recovery, and ensured spinel was still of use to him in this time. :3

It was a tad difficult, but it was also one of the many highlights to her lifetime.
