I knew I'd get this one after posting those snippits 😂 👀 Tell me about an up and coming wip please! I'm not sure if you want the 7k 🥵 one or the wip about Bernie 'whoring' herself out as a trophy wife to see her kids' but I'll give you the latter and just leave you hanging for the other because... hun there is NO plot there what so ever. It's just raw sweaty unadulterated vigorous passion with leopard print silk scarves thrown into the mix.
The currently untitled fic: Basically, its set right after the first Berena kiss except Marcus never told the kids that Bernie cheated on him. They still aren't really talking to her because she's the one that initiated the divorce but thats fodder for later in the fic. Marcus is in a bit of a situation because he has been named in his mothers will to receive all her money and the house, however, his mother is a strict traditionalist and one of the conditions of the will is that Marcus must not be divorced. He shows up at the hospital for a case that he's specialising in and long story short, he gives Bernie 2 options. Go back with him or never see her kids again. Unfortunately, Bernie knows what power Marcus holds over the children having been there for them throughout the years whilst she was off with the army and she caves to the manipulation. This is basically a 'Marcus is who Cam got the psychopath gene from' fic. Ask me about my fanfiction through emojis
It wasn’t rubbish. We had a marriage. We had a life. We have two beautiful, perfect children. All of that still stands.

I don’t know why it’s just now occurred to me that Bernie holding off seeing Cameron until she absolutely had to, and informing him “last” of all the family, wasn’t just about allowing time for her own personal recovery. It was for her own physical safety. Given his obsession, evident in his last moments, with making her “proud” and his delusion of grandeur about “saving” her as his last words. It’s apparent to me if he was a danger to anyone, it would be Bernie herself. I still have the head-cannon, more than ever, that Charlotte KNEW he was not safe to be around. She was the one who insisted her Mum hold off seeing him. Charlotte knew Bernie was too vulnerable in her PTSD state and could be manipulated by her Son. Bernie had been manipulated by him in the past. So when Charlotte found out about Cameron’s killing spree at the hospital, (maybe from her Dad) she put it all together for herself and her own personal history. That was the door she needed to finally talk to her Dad about her own story. And then when she was told her Mum was alive, she made sure Serena and Bernie knew the full story and his history of misogyny and control issues throughout their young lives. She had to give Bernie the “come to Jesus” talk about her own son. Hard conversations were had but Even Marcus agreed it was not safe for Bernie to see him. (Bonus point head canon, Charlotte is a PhD in Psychology or some related field.)
After watching last nights Holby again.
A lot of fans are saying Bernie was selfish for not telling Cameron sooner (to an extent, I can agree with) but nobody is blaming his father Marcus? If Marcus has known then why did he not bother calling the prison? I mean we can assume he’s washed his hands of him (which I wouldn’t blame) but it’s still all a bit weird to blame it on the one parent.
I was happy to learn that Charlotte had known despite her not telling him either. (Just shows the ‘darling Charlotte’ thing is genuinely canon). I think she’d be about 24/25 now? She’s been through so much over the two years it would of been interesting to meet her just once. However I can rely on tons of fics to cure that wish.
I also feel like the writers took the cowards way out. I do think he should of gone back to prison to rot for the remainder of his years.
Very glad Henrik survived. His character is my favourite right now despite some of his choices as of late, his character has always been a favourite of mine.
I can’t help but feel like the Cameron ending was a knock off version of Henrik/his son.
I was never invested in the Cameron going killer thing as it didn’t make any sense.
Looking forward to the ending of the Jeni storyline which seems to be coming up.

John Barrowman (who I love) retweeted a clip to Holby City of his character asking Cam a bunch of questions, really just egging him on a little about the whole “sad little rich boy” angle that Cam likes to play nowadays. Okay. Fine. Who cares anymore, AmIRight?
I do find it amusing that they, and by proxy Cam, can’t go an episode without mentioning Bernie AND they managed to give Marcus (orthopedic surgeon) the job they had Alex doing (anesthetic consult).
Like...all you had to do was a simple Google search, if that.
Something has been bothering me...
- Though that letter that Alex gave to Cam from his mother was lovely, it was written like she had originally written it YEARS ago. Like...while she and Marcus were still “together”. Like she hadn’t come out at that point. I don’t doubt Bernie would have given Alex something to spread upon her supposed demise while they were together, but that letter wasn’t recent.
- Marcus hijacking the funeral may have been more about trying to protect his kids than being a dick at his ex-wife’s funeral. As silly as it sounds, he’s probably grieving just as much, even though he raked Bernie across the coals during their divorce, he still loved her. I’m disappointed that he had taken it out on Serena though.
- How is Jason not going to be at a funeral or memorial for his Auntie Bernie? THAT was quite the oversight. (as was Fletch...wtf?)
- Wish we got more mentions of Charlotte.
Everytime I rewatch old Holby Eps I hate Marcus Dunn just a little bit more!
