i love it so so so so much
it gave me just about everything that i've been missing across new trek and new shows in general and you just gave me an excuse to talk about it
a lot of it goes back to the fact that the first season is 20. fucking. episodes. when was the last time you got a show from western countries with 20 episodes in the last hm. 10 years?
and i honestly believe that that fixed sooo much
character development that didn't feel rushed? got it
found family that was *shown* instead of told? got it
time to explore new and old characters? got it
holodeck adventures? got it
background to new characters? got it
of course i'm biased, i absolutely adore Janeway, which is different to e.g. Picard, who I like, and maybe ST: Picard would have hit differently if he had been my captain (tm)
but then again, i feel like Janeway was there to draw old fans in, and they certainly caught me, but it's not entirely *her* story. Her story is in there, it's important, but each and every story of each and every new character is also important.
they don't have to cram cameos in there. they don't have to connect every single detail to anything that happened before, but there are ties and that is OKAY.
basically what i'm trying to say, they manage to honor the legacy of trek while also expanding on the universe.
somehow i feel like star trek should just go ahead with the animated series, idk they really got something there with prodigy and lower decks

this is such a farscape agenda thing of me to say but im pretty sure at LEAST david kemper worked on some TNG episodes and id love to just pick his brain because he always writes such great ideas im ENVIOUS of like howd you come up with these things my brother in christ. id say kate mulgrew but like i lived out my meeting ur idol fantasy with gillian anderson and i dont have that dawg in me no more. but she would be fun to meet i just can’t imagine me taking it seriously im such a freak lmao. idk if it counts but id LOVE to meet christie golden and kirsten beyer im soooooo curious as to what their vibe is with each other. its probably amicable but im so curious. its not the kind of thing i think you can research very easily on the interwebs lol. like it would never happen I WOULD NEVER ASK but what was it like collabing/taking over each others stories and killing off each other’s characters or erasing each other’s works with stuff like character memory wipes lololol. maybe it was all higher ups but im SO CURIOUS if they have beef lol.

i wanna say the easy answer to this is janeway just so i can scold her on her plant caretaking regime lol or,,,,,, if you wanna say she’s simply built different at taking care of stuff like bonsais in space,,, ask her for her plant hacks,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, but i actually think if i was on voyager id be more inclined to befriend the maquis crew members lol,,, doomed narrative me thinks id end up befriending someone like Seska lmao 🫶 i would want to be her friend shes problematic. i would hope that i could be the friend she would confide in and tell me she was going to join the kazon and steal some of chakotays juice to impregnate herself like thats how close we’d be as friends and then id be like wow girl thats crazy hahaha slay and then shed do it and id be like so proud of her for commiting to her spiral. this isnt exactly in line with what the question is asking but i feel too background character extra core to imagine myself being friends with any of these really smart successful people 😂 maybe barclay and then i would bully him. if i had my way i would befriend Surpiria i can fix her.

Hmm i just want to say your animation ability is really gorgeous and admirable. I struggle to animate at the best of times--too bogged down with the technical. It's so nice to see such fluidity and confidence in your work. Is it something you just developed on your own and have you always been interested in animation? I’ve always been interested in animation ever since I can remember, I made lots of flip notes with the dsi flipnote studio when I was a kid hehe and eventually got photoshop and now I use procreate. I pretty much developed through trial and error, just lots of random attempts over the years but I’ve gradually improved, but I should try using actual tutorials and learning properly (you’d think I’d have done that studying animation at university but it wasn’t a technical course which was a bit surprising!)

Yeah, that’s true! But it was the apartment I was thinking of. I don’t retain much information from anything past S7, haha. I did find this Angelfire (!!!!) page that lists her address as Annapolis, but we all know CC isn’t big on “details” or “reality” or “continuity”. Probably they put it in one of the official books or on one of the prop pages and then forgot.
