Random Prompt #19: “She’s hiding behind the sofa.”
It was the end of the school day, as well as the boys’ day off from practice. You, Makki, and Mattsun were at the convenience store, browsing for snacks and drinks to bring to the sleepover at Mattsun’s house. Iwaizumi and Oikawa were on their way, both having left class a little later than usual. Earlier that day, Iwaizumi had also threatened reminded Oikawa not to entertain his fangirls for too long after school, or to forget their plans with you and the other boys, or else you’d be sad.
“What should we do when we get to your house, Mattsun?” Makki asked, already done with his snack shopping.
“I dunno,” Matsukawa shrugged. “Do you guys want to watch a movie?”
“Ehh, but we always do that.” You answered, picking up another favorite snack of yours.
Makki and Mattsun calmly followed you as you flitted over to the drinks. “What do you want to do then, Y/N?”
You tapped your chin, eyes focused on the yogurt drinks before you. “Hm, why don’t we play some games?”
The chime of the entrance door rang throughout the store, and you turned around, beaming as you caught sight of your two other best friends. “Iwa-chan! Oikawa-san!” You waved him and Oikawa from down the aisle.
Oikawa blanched, speeding over. “HAH? Why are you calling me Oikawa-san, Y/N-chan? What’d I do this time?!”
You laughed outright, almost dropping the drink in your hand. “I’m just kidding, Toru! Here, I already got your milk bread for you.”
The captain breathed out a dramatic sigh of relief, placing a hand over his chest. Iwaizumi snorted as he heard the commotion, ordering some meat buns at the counter and waiting for you and the others to make your payments.
“Anyway, what games were you thinking of playing? I have some video games in my room that I can bring out,” Mattsun rubbed the back of his neck absentmindedly as he tried to remember what he had at home.
“Ah it’s okay! I was thinking of something more like board games,” You replied as Makki exited first and held the door open for all of you. “Oh, or hide and seek!”
“Y/N, let me carry your things.” Iwaizumi said, tugging lightly at the straps of your bag. He always offered to hold your bag for you whenever you guys walked anywhere, and you smiled at him gratefully as he slid the bag off your shoulders.
"Don’t you think his house is too big for hide and seek though?” Oikawa tilted his head, adjusting the shoulder strap of his own duffel bag. “We’d take forever to find each other.”
“What do you mean? It’d be perfect!” You grinned, rubbing your hands together. “More options for us to hide.”
The boys shared a glance and shrugged, basically saying “why not?” as they watched you lead the way to Matsukawa’s house. Being childhood friends with Mattsun had led to you also meeting and being friends with his teammates from the volleyball club.
You weren’t their team manager, but you may as well have been, due to how well you manage to befriend all of their teammates, take care of them, and motivate them whenever any of them needed it. However, you had your own schedule and things to take care of, so you couldn’t dedicate your full time to the volleyball club.
You were still their best girl, and just like how you always supported and made time for them, they made sure that you were also happy and taken care of.
“Why did I have to be the seeker?” Iwaizumi grumbled, though he wasn’t actually cranky. He was just mildly annoyed that he couldn’t find you, and it’s been over five minutes since he’d found everyone else.
He’d actually found the guys relatively quickly, because they were such giants that they didn’t have much options except to pick the only few spots that would actually hide them effectively. Unfortunately for them, that was obvious to Iwaizumi and it made his job of finding them much easier. However, he still hadn’t found you. He even looked to see if you’d laid in one of the beds or sleeping bags that you all brought for the sleepover.
“I already checked all the good hiding spots,” Iwaizumi told the boys as he stalked towards the living room where the game had started. “How many other places could she even be hiding?”
Mattsun’s eyes flicked over to the wall where his family’s sofa was, and he coughed to hide his chuckle. Ah, he should’ve known. Your tactic was to hide in a place that would usually be deemed as a “bad” or “obvious” hiding spot, because it was usually dismissed or overlooked. It was a place you’d often hide whenever you used to come over to his house as a kid. Makki watched as Iwaizumi checked the hall closet for you again, and pointedly sat on the sofa.
Oikawa, ever observant, followed his friends’ movements and smirked in amusement. “Psst,” He stage-whispered. “Iwa-chan.”
“So meaaaan, Iwa-chan! I just wanted to tell you that she’s hiding behind the sofa.”
“HEY!” You jumped up from the space between the wall and Mattsun’s sofa, marching out to scold Oikawa. “That’s cheating!”
Makki burst out into laughter, pulling you down onto the sofa with him and putting you into a head lock. “What an obvious hiding spot, Y/N!”
“Lame, Y/N-chan,” Oikawa stuck his tongue out at you.
“But Hajime couldn’t find me on his own,” You stuck your tongue out right back at Oikawa, and Mattsun slapped Iwaizumi’s back as the ace blushed and looked away in embarrassment. “So I still win!”
