M91 // Ralph MacDonald
A barred spiral galaxy, M91 is the faintest object in the Messier catalog and the last group of eight galaxies that Messier discovered in 1781.
This was also a "lost" object for nearly two centuries. Messier made a mistake in logging his observations, writing this galaxies position with respect to M58 instead of M89. Although William Herschel (1738-1822) suspected this mistake in 1784, he was unsure. It took amateur astronomer William C. Williams in 1969 to recover this "lost" galaxy!
Bala & Rem
Remington Model of 1891
Originally part of a contract with Russia this rifle was made in the USA to be used by Russia in WWI. The model 1891 would be updated to the model of 1891/1930 for WWII, but many m91 rifles like this would see action in WWII as well as other engagements like the Winter War. This rifle shows signs of having been “captured” by the Finnish forces most likely in the Winter War or WWII.

1936 Finnish capture Mosin Nagant 91/30 in non-refurb configuration (My favorite). Nasty, shot out, but lovable. A large mishmash of parts from many different factories. One of the things I love about this one compared to my other Finnish capture is that it does not have a 1941 or 1940 capture mark on the barrel shank, and to me that’s pretty awesome.
