This dress is unusual because, while duplicate costumes are often made for filming, this one appears onscreen on two different actresses at the same time.   Jo Anderson and DeLane Matthews wear matching dresses with elaborate gold and silver beaded collars during a fashion show in the HBO miniseries 𝑭𝒓𝒐𝒎 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑬𝒂𝒓𝒕𝒉 𝒕𝒐 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑴𝒐𝒐𝒏. Anderson plays Pat White, while Matthews portrays Pat McDivitt in the episode 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑶𝒓𝒊𝒈𝒊𝒏𝒂𝒍 𝑾𝒊𝒗𝒆𝒔 𝑪𝒍𝒖𝒃. Although intended to match, the dresses have subtle differences in the collar beadwork, and Anderson's version appears to feature a front seam that Matthews' does not.   The dress worn by Jo Anderson is the one that was later recycled. Sometimes a film or television production doesn’t need a single costume but an entire set of them. Costume houses stock all kinds of uniforms to dress numerous characters that need to match, from WWII uniforms to outfit an army to period-accurate liveries. In the instance above, a set of old-fashioned diner uniforms has been reused.   These distinctive blue uniforms and matching caps first appeared on the cult classic television show 𝑻𝒘𝒊𝒏 𝑷𝒆𝒂𝒌𝒔, which ran from 1990 to 1991. The costume designer for the show was Sara Markowitz (𝑩𝒊𝒍𝒍 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑻𝒆𝒅’𝒔 𝑬𝒙𝒄𝒆𝒍𝒍𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝑨𝒅𝒗𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒖𝒓𝒆, 𝑩𝒐𝒚 𝑴𝒆𝒆𝒕𝒔 𝑾𝒐𝒓𝒍𝒅, 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑩𝒊𝒈 𝑩𝒂𝒏𝒈 𝑻𝒉𝒆𝒐𝒓𝒚). The costumes appear frequently on screen, worn by several characters who play employees at the show’s “Double R” diner. The above photo shows Mädchen Amick as Shelly Johnson wearing the uniform.   After the show ended its short run, the pieces were put into the stock of a costume house to be rented to other productions. Janie Bryant, the costume designer on AMC’s 𝑴𝒂𝒅 𝑴𝒆𝒏, seems to have utilized them several times for the series, including the show’s 2009 third season episode entitled 𝑺𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒏 𝑻𝒘𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒚-𝑻𝒉𝒓𝒆𝒆, where one of the uniforms was worn by Dani Repp as a waitress at Swenson’s Bakery in Ossining, New York.   One of the costumes was used in the 2014 season of 𝑮𝒊𝒓𝒍 𝑴𝒆𝒆𝒕𝒔 𝑾𝒐𝒓𝒍𝒅, where Cheryl Texiera wore it as Katy Hart.   Find out where else these costumes were used by visiting our website at Bit.ly/PostEd120
