Hi, @markiplier community! I am here today to say that yes, I am the mysterious Ruth that had a brief cameo and shout out in the fan game Hearts and Heroes! I wanted to take a moment to talk about the absolutely wonderful dev team over at @hearts-and-heroes.

(This is going to be long, so bear with me. I have a lot of words and memories to share, I apologize beforehand.)

I remember seeing the first post made about this game 3 years ago, an announcement about a demo, and being immediately drawn to it. I played the demo, absolutely adored it, and followed the blog. I decided from then on I’m seeing this project to the end.

And it was absolutely worth the wait. Hey team!!! You guys!!!!! You did it! After almost three long years it finally happened! You made an absolutely phenomenal game and Mark played it on his channel! I’m so so immensely proud and happy for all of you. 💜

I still feel like I haven’t done much, just helped giving feedback and encouragement and reblogging posts to help spread the news, so it was a complete surprise to me when several people on the team, like @m0rkl, @kitten-whispers1105, @aohoshiart, and especially @markipliergamegifs began to reach out to me, talking to me and thanking me for the support. Even more so when Laura (MGG) asked me if I wanted to be in the game! I was utterly floored by the offer, and of course I couldn’t possibly refuse.

I didn’t know what to expect when I played the game as an alpha tester. I knew I had a sprite, and knew what my dialogue was because I provided that myself. I…did not expect to get my own dialogue art. It was more than I could ever hope for, I have never had anyone draw me before. I was moved to tears.

Then I reached end of the game, just barely recovering from crying from the beautiful ending, and then I found Laura’s message about me. I cried a lot more then. They told me Catherine (Kitten) and Judr (aohoshi) added their own bit for me afterwards, but I haven’t had the time at all to replay the game to see for myself. And now I finally saw it for the first time as Mark reached that part in the game. I was bawling.

I never thought this would happen, that little old me would, in a way, be in a Markiplier video. That Mark would say my name and know that I exist. Mark, if you’re reading this (I highly doubt it, haha), thank you so so much for playing this game, for everything you’ve done. This game wouldn’t exist without you, this amazing group of people wouldn’t have met each other without you. These wonderful human beings who gave me a chance to be part of something this magical, who asked me if I wanted my pronouns to be changed in the game after I came out as agender. I can’t thank you or them enough.

Somewhere along the way I came to know these people, and they knew me too. They became friends, and even if I didn’t talk to them a whole lot, I was always watching. I saw the hard work, the blood and tears and love and heart (yes I know I said this on Twitter shhhhh) they poured into the game, to make it work, to bring it to life, and I can say without a doubt that every single person on this team deserves the best things in life and I wish nothing but the brightest futures for all of them.

This is not a shout for attention, I do not look to gain followers from this, as I am a mess of a multifandom blog and I honestly don’t know why I have as many followers as I do. I just wanted to let you all know the story behind my cameo in the game and to give testimonial on just how dedicated the dev team have been to bring this game to us.

Sorry for this wall of text, but I love the team deeply and even this amount of words doesn’t do that justice. 💜💜💜

Despite how much he hated Marlisa, and everything she stood for, Bucky was careful as he held her in place; he didn’t want to break her arm, after all. Steve, of course, had taken over the lecturing, with a steely look in his eyes that made Bucky more confident. He was fine, he was with allies, and Marlisa clearly didn’t know the damn code.

At the same time, half his mind was on the two children in the Quinjet. He wasn’t pleased that they’d had to take the kids along for this, and he was even less so that they’d have to be as close to a HYDRA leader as they would be. Responsibility was a bitch sometimes.

Finally, Steve finished and turned to lead the way , and Bucky shoved Marlisa lightly toward the door, eager to get the damn thing over with and check on Yuu.

So he was more than a little surprised when Yuu darted in through the half-open door, right alongside Lavi.

He froze for a brief second, while Tony yelped his son’s name and Marlisa struggled and snarled in protest.

“Stop, Yuu!” he snapped after a moment, making a false motion to go after his son before he remembered he had a damn job to do. He scowled as both boys vanished into another room without even glancing back, inwardly cursing her and hoping to God there wasn’t anything too hazardous in the area. What was Yuu thinking? Lavi might be reckless, but Yuu was usually so trustworthy-

“Are those your children?” Marlisa demanded of him, struggling again. He tightened his grip in response, distracted, and she stilled with a hiss but continued, twisting to glare at him, “Get them out of my house! Aren’t you forcing enough indignities upon me, Soldier?”

Bucky briefly turned his attention back to her, giving her a stony glower. “I don’t think you have much room to-”

And he cut himself off, his scowl vanishing and the blood draining from his face as, abruptly, he heard something he hadn’t noticed before: the cries of a child, loud and terrified.

A sneer smeared across Marlisa’s face, but surprisingly, she held her tongue. Steve finally made a move towards the room the two boys had run into, eyes widening in worry, while Tony turned to Marlisa, all humor gone from his face, and asked, deadly quiet,

“Forget to mention something, Von Strucker?”

She drew herself up haughtily, eyes steeling, but before she could say anything, Yuu came barreling back in from the other room, and before anyone could react, he launched himself at Marlisa, screaming and lashing out with an enraged abandon Bucky had never seen from him before.

“What did you do to him, you stupid witch, why was beansprout shut in a cupboard, I’ll kill you...!”

It took a few seconds for Bucky to react, while Yuu beat his fists against Marlisa, eyes alight with rage and face twisted into a snarl.

Then he unfroze and let go of Marlisa with one hand to bend down and pick Yuu up. Yuu, unusually, didn’t acknowledge him - he just kept thrashing and screaming increasingly less coherent words at Marlisa, who looked almost startled as she did defensive and angry, a few red spots starting to appear where Yuu had hit her.

“Why you-!” she spluttered, no longer struggling against Bucky’s grip but glaring daggers at the child he held fast in his other, metal arm. “I never- How dare you!”

“Tony,” Steve requested, voice strained. Tony gave him a sharp nod and, without his characteristic snark, set off at a rapid walk to the other room, looking deeply unamused. Natasha gave Steve a nod of her own and followed after, expression unreadable.

Bucky held still, caught between keeping Marlisa from escaping and worrying over what had set Yuu off so thoroughly. In general, Yuu was a fairly stable child, so why...?

Cupboard? he wondered, wariness creeping through his chest.

“Calm down, Yuu,” he murmured, tightening his grip on his son but careful, very careful, not to hurt him. “You’re okay, it’s okay, it’s gonna be fine, understand? It’s gonna be fine.”

Yuu twisted to look up at him, and past the rage, Bucky caught a glimpse of pain and fear in depths that made his heart clench. He glanced up at Steve, who tilted his head to indicate Marlisa, and Bucky nodded. Steve sighed, and then moved to hover in the doorway. He froze, and Bucky hissed. Yuu’s struggles slowed - if Bucky didn’t know any better, he would have thought the boy seemed defeated, if only for a moment.

A few long moments passed, and then Tony returned, murmuring soothingly to a helplessly sobbing Lavi.

Bucky really wanted to know what had happened in the other room.

And then, finally - Steve turned back, looking grim to hide how furious he was, eyes drifting over Marlisa with a very different and much darker look compared to what he’d given her earlier. And then Natasha came in, cradling the source of this mess - a tiny boy, at most a year old, with white hair, an enormous scar that dominated the left side of his face, and a smattering of bruises.

Bucky’s blood roared in his ears.

It was only instinct that let him pass Marlisa to Steve so he could keep from losing his grip on Yuu, though now he had half a mind to just set the boy lose on her for what she’d done. Surely there were exceptions to ‘violence is never the answer.’

The only thing he had left to wonder was, why had Yuu taken to Allen so quickly? Was Yuu simply very protective of others, or desperate for company in his age group, or-

1. of the fic you’ve written, which are you most proud of?

At the moment probably my day 2 piece for Allero Week. Angst, aaaaangst

4. what are some themes you love writing about?

Angst. Horror, fantasy and action.

8. is there a character you love writing for the most? the least? why?

Original: I’ve found i really like writing for Lyse and Anmeria a lot. Lyse bc she’s just a great, fun character and Anmeria bc she’s a huge dork really and i love her.

DGM: Road definitely, Cross and Kanda. Cross and Lyse are p similar characters, Road is an adorable murderous child of course I’m gonna love writing her and Kanda is so salty that w him around i’ll never need for salt again.

Tales Of Vesperia: Yuri and Rita. Yuri well i love writing sarcastic characters and Rita is very straightforward w things apart from her feeling tho they’re obvs to everyone else. She thinks you’re an idiot? She’ll tell you you’re an idiot.

Original: Thanh, Kalliope and Valdís Jung. Thanh and Kalliope bc they’re both very charismatic ppl and i struggle writing those and Valdís bc well i’ll keep that to myself or else it’ll spoil it for when i’ve actually started writing it hehehe

DGM: Allen and Komui. Both of them there’s a lot more to than there might originally seem and it can be so easy to slip into writing them as very simple characters rather than the complex ones the are

ToV: Raven and Repede. Raven keeps so many secrets and has two sides to him(I won’t say more about it bc ToV spoilers) but it makes him a complex character so sometimes I struggle w keeping everything in order. Repede is a doge. i write ppl not doge’s. 

9. a passage from a WIP

This is from the thing I’m currently writing for Lyse

Lyse took a drag of her cigarette as she poured herself another shot. Whiskey. A staple of her drinking collection. It was close to her tenth of the day but she didn’t care. A quick glance at the clock; 11:49am. She grimaced and downed her shot. Just over six more hours before the insufferable meeting with her superiors was due to happen. She couldn’t help but catch herself hoping, and not for the first time, that something tragic would happen and cause the meeting to be cancelled but alas she knew that kind of luck would not be in her favour; now or at any other point.
