Love Like The Galaxy 星汉灿烂·月升沧海 (2022)
The Significance of the first meeting
It really bothers me when people lack comprehension skills when it comes to media so let’s talk about the love at first sight scene with LBY and CSS aka why the wrist scene is not just a simple scene of love at first sight as implied..
This is their very first encounter and it establishes two things-
1. Our protagonist is someone smart and vengeful who will not cow to societal expectations.
2.That LBY and she share similar moral values when it comes to justice and fairness
The context of the scene is that our neglected female lead is going home after a serious bout of illness when she’s surrounded by LBY and his men in search of a wanted man who is involved in a case of fake weapons being sold to the military.
For those who’ve watched the show you would understand why it would be a big issue for LBY and he’s aware that the suspect was headed to CSS’s place and might seek shelter there given the familial connection.
He’s prepared to be denied the search but what happens instead?
CSS not only refuses to shield the suspect but gives him a clue to find him instead and points him in the right direction hence the wrist shot. It’s at this moment he realises he has found someone that both shares his thoughts and ideals as well as someone who would understand his rage and bitterness too thus CSS is his perfect match and he falls for her
If you made it to the end please do share your thoughts and let me know if there’s anything you think I’ve left off or would like to go in a different direction

Guys I just finished Love Like the Galaxy and it was the best thing I’ve ever watched. What do I do with my life now.
Wouldn't it be funny if Love Like The Galaxy ended at episode 51...? Huo Buyi gone to protect the borders, Shaoshang burying herself in the cold palace with the deposed Empress, the Cheng family never seeing her again... In terms of sad ending, that would be devastatingly sad. I'm guessing the last 6 episodes are going to pile up on the angst some more before relenting and finally giving some happy endings.
The Empress in this drama reminds me of the empress from Love Like the Galaxy. Both very gentle, poised, compassionate queens birthing terribly incompetent crown princes. In lltg, it was the crown prince's kind, compassionate, easily trusting nature that made him incredibly gullible, susceptible to manipulation, and thus made him an unsuitable ruler. Nan Rui on the other hand was raised so pampered as to be stupid, narrow minded, lacking ambition, and constantly relying on better aids around him to help out in any given situation. He has an over bloated sense of self importance from having his ego stroked by the yes men around him who want to use him as a puppet king.
Both princes are coddled by the emperors of their respective story out of a sense of guilt towards their birth mothers. But while the Emperor from lltg eventually recognizes and eventually reconciles with the crown prince's incompetence, eventually replacing him with a more competent prince at the behest of the Queen. Here, the king continues to cling stubbornly onto his designated heir, closing his eyes and ears to reason. He would rather give the throne to his imbecile of a son, and watch the world burn around him out of spite, than hand it over to the seventh prince who is clear a better alternative. Really gives new meaning to what the Queen once said to Nan Heng, that the emperor, despite his advanced age, is till very childish. I shudder to think what the consequences of his childish, petty actions would have on the people of the world.
