Conveyor Belts of Life š§¬š§¬(400x Mag. Brightfield. 48x Normal Speed. Olympus CX43) What you see here is a leaf doing photosynthesis at full throttle. You can see the disc-shaped chloroplasts traveling around the cells in a regular circulating pattern, almost taking the same path at each turn. This is made possible by protein machines that work like conveyor belts pulling the green organelles around exposing them evenly to light. You can even see these micro-machines at work if you look closely. They look a bit like gooey semitransparent schlieren. We all, without exception, owe our lives to photosynthesis in one way or another. Iām pretty sure we all know about this fact, but we rarely think about it. Looking at photosynthesis from close is like a meditation about our existence and letās me shiver in awe. What is swimming around in these cells will be our food at some point. In other words: Our Lives! . . Credits: @nomadic_nostoc . .
