this is a bit alfred-centric because he’s the character i think about the most but yeah i quite enjoy fruk & i think they’re all closer to being a “family” in modern day than they ever have been historically. i think they’ve gotten to the point where they are beginning to divorce who each of them are as people from what they represent as nations, even though the two can intertwine very closely, of course. i guess what i’m saying is that there’s less baggage between them. they still quarrel and bicker and bring up the past and have unresolved issues with each other, but they are generally closer and get along better than they ever have

my thoughts on arthur and alfred’s relationship can be a whole different essay entirely, but i think they were on generally pretty horrible personal terms until the 1900s. i also think alfred kind of wanted francis to fill the parental void that was created back during the revolution, but francis was too preoccupied reveling in the concept of arthur’s defeat and humiliation to notice. i think alfred and matt have always psychoanalyzed fruk together. matt, of course, resents alfred for a lot of reasons and alfred can very quickly result to being like “this is just because i’m better at everything than you”. but at the end of the day i think they can be real with each other (namely, alfred can be real with matt) in a way they normally aren’t with others. they’re also REALLY good at impersonating each other

i think francis and arthur both blame each other for how matthew and alfred turned out also lol. arthur is bitching about something alfred said that pissed him off and francis is like “now who does his behavior remind me of? 🥰” and arthur is like fuck you. kill yourself.

33. What are some of your biggest headcanons?

oh geez i have... too many. like god so many headcanons. most of them about Austria. probably a big one is i go along with the headcanon that the time he was in a wheelchair was right after ww1, up till before ww2. after that i can’t decide if he was in and out of a wheelchair until the 50s or if he was able to transition to using a cane for support. on one hand having him using a cane at times makes more sense, but in the other hand i want an excuse to write him passive aggressively wheeling over the allies’s feet during the occupation of his country after ww2 lmfao

again i have TOO MANY. probably the weirdest one i’ve ever shipped was nyo belarus and fucking. picardy. in an rp once. yes i rped picardy, the canon character no one remembers.

The Magician: Something you’re very good atI’d say that I’m pretty good at analyzing stuff, especially in literature/the arts! Breaking down a scene or a poem is all up my alley, whether it’s necessary or not. I think it comes from the fact that I usually describe myself as a ‘thinker and overthinker,’ which I don’t necessarily mean in some high intellectual way, but just that I think over stuff a lot

The Fool: Something you’ve always wanted to tryI’ve always wanted to try getting a really short haircut. For most of my life I’ve had really long hair- really really long when I was younger, and now it’s about chest/mid-torso level. I’ve done shorter hair before, but I really want to try something more androgynous. I just get nervous because in some ways I do like my longer hair and what I’m able to do with it, but in other ways I always fucking hate my hair lol

Temperance: Your ideal dayCop out answer, but it really just depends on the day! Some days an ideal day would be drawing or writing all day; some days it’s just being able to hang out with friends/a friend and feeling comfortable. Maybe as an example for an ideal day, last month I got to spend a (relatively) relaxed day with a friend and then we went over to another friend of ours and ended up staying over (there’s a longer story to all this but anyway lol) and just chilling and watching a movie together in bed and that just felt...really comfortable and nice. So that was pretty ideal.

The Tower: Something that changed your lifeWell, Berlin aside, I actually found the first summer I worked at Lowe’s to be a really big influencer in my life.  Not only because it was my first “real” job, but, well, I grew up in a middle/upper-middle class family close to Boulder and I go to a relatively wealthy private liberal arts school, so in some ways, I’ve mostly interacted with “folks of a certain walk of life” in my life. I think my job there was a point of really breaking out of that bubble a bit, and while I’d say that it wasn’t like I was socially unaware before then, there’s a difference between being aware and actually being in a situation. I think it was also a good moment of realizing for myself how much I had changed from high school to college- but in a good way. I think it helped me see how much going to college had helped me grow.
