"Feed the Birds"
As I mentioned previously, I wanted to continue the theme of "Minor Villains being Wholesome" and this week decided on Father Cornello. In the '03 version, he had a pet bird. He's feeding them seeds and the like in outside the temple in Liore on a lovely new Spring morning.
I kind of gave up when it came to the birds themselves, though, which is why they look so... weird.
Regarding the riot in Lior. The map in the picture shows that Liore is North-east of East City, right near the border of Amestris and what I realise is the Xing desert (unlabelled here). There's a point north-north east of East City (about half the distance, though), which I think might say 'New Optain', which is the branch Hakuro/Halcrowe has just come from.
I'd just about forgotten that other places existed and thought of the military as Central/North/South/East/West (lazy brain), so it was a bit weird to hear there's a branch in New Optain. I guess there'd be heaps around near other cities, if the country is big enough.

So I've started to watch Fullmetal Alchemist '03. I watched up to the fifth lab arc years ago, but I forgot most of it. My brother also wanted to join me so here's our remarks from the first two episodes:
He was completely confused by the opening sequence where they transmute their mom. He thought it was Alphonse and they were making, quote, 'A spider creature. I don't know why they're upset they did well'
Alphonse got evaporated?
He was VERY confused about why Al was suddenly in armor and 6 feet tall
"Why is he so tall but sounds like a toddler"
We looked up the voice actor and I'm pretty sure he was indeed 11 when recording
He freaked out when Alphonse fixed the radio because he thought it would make a 'radio spider'
Every time Lust appeared I would say AWOOGA and he looked at me with disgust. Bro does not support women /j
When Ed starts his 'science is better than religion' speech he was confused again because they literally did spider magic
Cornello: revives bird. Brother: that's not a bird that's a spider now
Cornello at some point yells "YOU MISERABLE LITTLE BOYS" and we repeated that way too much
Ed: my arm is metal :(. Brother: wow he looks quite miserable. And little. Like a miserable little boy, maybe
Bird-Cain looks like a q-tip. alternatively, he's a spider now.
The only thing my brother knows about this show is that there's a sad chimera that people joke about. Because he knows nothing else, he though Tucker was the Elric's dad. I almost cried.
Brother: if Ed can turn his arm into a sword, why not turn it into a gun? Or if he takes propane with him he could make a flamethrower.
Me, laughing at the mental image of Ed approaching Mustang with a flamethrower arm: oh n o
He doesn't quite get the whole equivalent exchange thing so when kid Ed and Al were showing their mom the metal dog things they made he kept asking what body part they sacrificed to make it.
Thus: toemutation.

✨ "You were just like a light passing by - Even though it was for a moment, I have no regrets." - You Were Like A Wild Chrysanthemum (Keisuke Kinoshita, 1955) This piece really put me in a Samhain & Liore mood ❤️ A little romantic, a little melancholic & bittersweet~ I've been stressed out lately so just wanted to work on something quick & simple while trying out a different brush for the colors this time to give it a more 'paint brush' feel. I realized this much too late but I have reason to believe that the painting I used as reference is an A.I. frankenstein of John Singer Sargent's works because I found it floating around on Tumblr with just the artist's name in the caption but when I tried reverse-searching for the source, like for the full name of the painting or the date it was painted, nothing came up. I didn't notice it at first glance but the hands, arms & overall proportions do look a little sus. If anyone can confirm, or better yet find the actual pieces it was probably based on, do let me know!
