Off to make some lights do pretty things
I'm starting to feel comfortable with the M1 lighting console and the automated rig at work. I've got to run a show on the fly, and a show that was cue based, and to be honest I really like the way the M1 functions. I like that when I add a light to a cue, it updates every following cue with that info until I tell the fixture to change, and then removes info from all following cues. I miss having traditional submasters and positions, but I like that I can make cue stack of positions, intensities, or color, and for he most part stack them on top of each other.
Recording cues took some mental adjustments though. I'm used to the Ion which seems pretty intuitive recoding whatever is set on stage, and the Congo series, where you have to select everything before recording which makes for chaos cues when done on the M1. However, I do like the attribute filtering options when recording cues on he M1, and am positive that I will find tons of amazing ways to use it as time goes on. I also like how smoothly I can run multiple cues at the same time.
The M1 unlike most boards I have used Is NOT intuitive. It wants a lot of very specific information in order to function smoothly. Which I can relate to. It's a small console that can do big things.
Or maybe I just like it because so few people do.
