I've heard of a couple people doing this and I'm trying it out myself right now and it seems to work pretty well.
I deal with executive dysfunction and depression so a lot of the time i can't keep to a schedule. I heard someone say they use dice to get them to do tasks. What they do is roll a d20 and if you roll high you have to do the task. It kinda spurs you on and also if you roll low you don't have to do it. I've been using this with an addition.
I have my schedule and when time comes for a task i don't want to do, i roll. If it's over 12 i have to do it, if under i don't, but for every day i don't, 2 is added to my base, making it more likely every day.
I was thinking this would be a good app similar to LifeRPG, which i already use. You can make a character, add skills, buy items, etc. On an app it would be easier to keep track of what you've rolled and the base points for each task. It'd also make it more game like if you have a character you're trying to care for.
Status: Heliotrope
Sinusitis. Ack. The first time I’ve gotten sick enough to warrant narcotics (just codeine, no worries) in my adult life, I think.
The drugs are making my brain feel like a tiny car trying to navigate through a foggy backwoods road into the mountains with a gps that keeps losing signal.
Ben had to help me up out of the shower today. I was too light headed to get up after trying to steam my sinuses clear. Garrett keeps reminding me when my tea gets low. Not that it stops me from forgetting to refill it for like two hours, anyway, but he tries.
Drinking tea by the litre, and I’m still dehydrated. How much mucus can one human produce? ugh.
On top of feeling gross, I had to miss a wedding today to go to the doctor. Super disappoint. :(
On the more awesome side, I just found this app called LifeRPG. It lets you set tasks you need to accomplish as ‘missions’ that reward you with experience and skill buffs, and give you gems you can spend on self-allotted rewards. Basically it turns my life into a video game. Which feels right, somehow.
More to come. Have to take some more medicine. Whee. Gonna try and sleep. Later, world.
Keep Flying.
ginger-time-lady replied to your post “So I just downloaded the LifeRPG app, to try to get my life on track...”
I just got this app thanks to this post, gonna make my life so much easier ^-^
I hope it does!
I’ve been trying to find video game noises, as well as, a sound clip of Gary Oak saying “Smelll ya laaater!” for their success and fail noises. I’m managing importanting the leveling up, skill level up, and complete noise, but I did manage to find a clip of Gary saying “Well, Ash, you snooze you lose! I’ve got a Pokemon and you don’t!” for when I fail. Which was very applicable this morning when I woke up late.
Again, again, though. I do hope it makes your life easier. :D
So I just downloaded the LifeRPG app, to try to get my life on track and like, actually take my medication and like, actually eat and stuff, (I spent hours putting too many things I need to do on there) and now I’m just going through Pokemon sounds to download to perhaps put on my phone for the noises as to leveling up or being late for doing whatever, etc, and, I’m cracking up, “Look at that Swagger!”
