I miss them sm
aged up sissi and yumi from code lyoko
the inspiration for this was that i saw and edit of them a while ago and i was like u know what, they have shipping potential.
my head canon for this was: bisexual yumi breaks up with ulrich after a while of dating. realizes sissi is not that bad, she's just super lonely... as for sissi, im headcanoning her as a lesbian who's comphet made her believe she liked ulrich. maybe there's a xana attack that traps them together.... maybe they talk and figure their differences out... maybe they think "this girl's not that bad"... maybe we could hang out sometime... and maybe feelings end up arising
Happy pride month 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️
For this pride month I'm gonna draw my all time favorite queer ships
Day 1: wlw • leliwarden & riruhime
That all these texts were written by the same user boggles my mind. I don’t want to put them on blast, it just got me thinking. To a bunch of queer folks it’s as if gender/sexuality are a indeed a spectrum and lesbianism is on that spectrum, but the bisexual spectrum exists somehow completely outside of any of that nuance.
Gender is a social construct, except when bisexuals exist and happen to include cis men in their attractions. Then you perpetually “center men” and even if you’re in committed sapphic relationships that don’t include these cis men—even if you’ve never even been with a cis man—your sapphism, queerness and deconstruction of patriarchy is simply a watered down version of the elite lesbianism. Don’t categorise lesbians as “monosexual”, but it’s even worse if you refer to them as “bisexual” or “multisexual”, even though that is the literal antonym. The concept of compulsory heterosexuality as the entire basis of lesbianism can lead to binary, transphobic and intersexist thinking about “men” and “women”—resulting in a false assertion that lesbians are all fem cis women exclusively attracted to fem cis women. Sweeping generalisations about lesbianism is bad!—For example, exclusive lesbian butchfemme is not heteronormative. However, as soon as a fem bisexual woman is exclusively seeking butch/masc partners, they can’t be a real femme because they must just want a lesbian (always a lesbian, as if bi butches/mascs don’t exist, as if there aren’t many bi4bi sapphic couples including butchfemme) to be a “replacement” for a cis man—and that’s heteronormative. Sweeping generalisations about bi women are perfectly fine; it’s not like there are self-respecting lesbians that genuinely love their bi girlfriends and can holistically experience lesbianism regardless. Lesbianism is not just a sexual identity but a (gender-) diverse sociopolitical, historical culture—except when bisexual sapphics participate in it (as they have done historically), that can’t happen because “lesbian” is a purely innate (euphemism for “bioessential”) sexual identity entirely based in the strict exclusion of cis men, didn’t you know?
Separatism is obviously bad because it’s based in TERF/radfem ideology about bioessential gender and sexuality, and/or it claims lesbian is a political identity rather than a sexual one, but for some reason (cough biphobia) it sounds appealing actually. Never mind that gender and sexuality being a spectrum means that the line between “bisexual” and “lesbian” sexualities is blurry. (So separatism in practice could only be a myth—unless it was based in political identity.) Never mind that the “bisexual” is a relatively new label and it will take decades for “sapphic” to replace “lesbian” as a generalized term in English (and that it may never even happen in other languages—but who cares about BIPOC non-western non-English speakers?). Never mind that the same sapphics that are disgusted by the notion of bisexuals accepting/embracing “lesbian” as an umbrella term are the same ones determined to use it as such to avoid losing the visibility of the term and the hypothetically (and ahistorically) “exclusive lesbian spaces”. (The word “lesbian” is powerful. What happens when the bars, book clubs, the pop music, the historical figures, the movies and the art are all in danger of relabelling as “sapphic”, and you have to come to terms with how they were never exclusive in the first place?) Never mind even that there are individuals who are faced with a very complex choice about these labels—Are you bi if your butch/masc partner turns out to be a trans man and you still are attracted to them? Are you a lesbian if all the rare men you’ve dated turn out to be trans women anyway?
Sometimes the answer is: You get to choose, because it doesn’t necessarily affect how you move through the world anyway—though users like the above may beg to differ, whilst pleading that it’s not at all based in surface-level semantics. (It is, often.) If you choose lesbian, congratulations because sexuality is fluid and/or you finally unlearned comphet! Your identity comes with the baggage of being the black sheep of the patriarchy. (Being perceived as “available to men” as a bisexual woman, regardless of consent, is a great privilege under the patriarchy, as it is only violent to lesbians.) If you choose bisexual, well, whatever, it’s not revolutionary to date a man lol (because a bi woman will obviously never date women), it’s kinda shitty you led us on tbh and fuck you if you say “sexuality is fluid” when you know it never is for lesbians, you were never one in the first place (as lesbianism is innate)—you wouldn’t get it. Don’t even think about reclaiming the slurs used against you, because you were just mistaken for a real lesbian, and that level of identical presentation and experience somehow still doesn’t qualify you as a similar class. Such is the baggage of being the black sheep of, well, the sapphic community (but you’re not allowed to say that part out loud either, that’s sooo lesbophobic)—never enough and always the controversial thesis of some separatist narrative you never asked to be a part of, no matter how much you devote your life to sapphism.
One would expect that bi women being the largest LGBTQ+ subgroup would be a triumph for the sapphic community, and there would be some prioritization of relieving the well-documented monosexist marginalisation that bi women uniquely face, to support their involvement in sapphism. And yet, the one majority statistic is conveniently used as evidence that bi women are the oppressors of the sapphic community, all while bi WLW remain entirely statistically underrepresented among WLW … and it seems that folks want it that way.
Despite the grim statistical evidence, monosexism is considered a made-up system of oppression and bimisogyny a made-up term; biphobia is at worst mildly annoying, never life-threatening. Shut UP because trans folks are a convenient whataboutism scapegoat most important in this political climate anyway! (And don’t bring up bi-trans solidarity either; are you saying lesbians don’t include trans people in their attractions and/or that trans (wo)men aren’t (wo)men?!—despite historical records of LG attempting to exclude BT based on respectability politics, despite the fact that many trans folks are also bi, despite the single study that said lesbians were most supportive of trans folks not even distinguishing between bi men and women.) Validation is life-saving for lesbians and trans folks; it is unnecessary attention-seeking for bisexuals, and can somehow actually harm the other groups. A woman’s bisexuality is pointedly ignored against her own will when she’s with women, and then suddenly becomes a topic of great (negative) interest against her own will whenever she dates men—all to suit the same narrative. Trans and lesbian white celebrities are important representation, but cancel the white bi woman celebrity that doesn’t know how to “check her privilege”!
You’re definitely not allowed to express anecdotal experiences of being unfairly rejected on the basis of biphobia your bisexuality within the sapphic dating pool, the majority of whom in practice are statistically lesbians, except you’re not allowed to cite that fact either when bi women are technically the majority sapphic group overall—or else you’re just being intolerant towards les4les. It’s your fault you couldn’t find another rare bi woman who has conquered bimisogyny; it’s your own shortcoming that you don’t date women “enough”. Even when you do, it would be preferable if you either kept quiet about your bisexuality (because it indicates obvious commitment-phobia towards sapphism), or just picked a cis man and left so lesbians could live in peace and happily affirm their self-fulfilling separatist biases. If you as a bi WLW feel isolated in your bisexuality and have access to few other bi WLW to holistically relate to, it’s because we suppressed them all you’re a traitor that never belonged here anyway.
The internet can be a cesspool, but I find comfort in remembering that in real life, the vast majority of sapphics do not have the faintest interest in separatism. And the queer folks who do (certainly not just lesbians and not necessarily even majority lesbians—I’ve seen all kinds of queer folks engage in this) usually don’t have the gall to express it. Which is hypocritical, but is that surprising with all the contradictory logic?
