These folks pretend that “lesbian” has always been an exclusive term and/or bi+ sapphics are the ones resisting a very ~simple~ semantic change because we love making ourselves the center of attention in places where we don’t belong. That’s untrue. Bisexuals have always been identified plainly as “straight” or “gay” so we’re not complaining about extra recognition, but “lesbian” (like “gay”) was always an umbrella defined by relations between women and other gender diverse individuals, a culture that bisexuals have participated in throughout history. “Lesbian” is a powerful globally significant world; it will take “sapphic” decades to catch up as a replacement—and that’s assuming it’s even allowed to. The notion is truly ridiculous, like saying a bisexual WLW/MLM actually isn’t “gay”, so please exclusively stick to this new purposefully niche term (that the real gays look down on and refuse to identify under) instead. That’s deliberate erasure. There’s been an alarming increase in purity culture rhetoric online, and it’s based in the separatism of lesbians from all other sapphics. The foundation of that idea is: “There is something innately queerer in two lesbians’ relationship, that can only ever be poorly immitated by non-lesbian sapphics as they will never truly deconstruct the patriarchy.” Which directly implies that mere proximity to men (here, the capacity for potential attraction) taints a woman’s agency and abilities for life.

Primarily this for those in bi/lesbian relationships, or in support of bi/lesbian ships. With the secondary meaning of solidarity between sapphics.

I expanded the centre stripe of the lesbian flag to match the bi one, the colours were derived from both flags using layers with different blend modes & opacities levels. The heart was is inspired by a les4les flag but its colour was specifically chosen to be the pink from the sapphic flag.
