izzyposting again because I'm obsessed with this little freak BUT I do love how he genuinely thinks he's being "nice" and respectful of Ed's affections for him about the ways he tries to kill stede
like, he easily could have just overpowered stede and tossed him off the ship, but in ep 6 he goes to Ed and offers to kill stede IF Ed wants. and when Ed says he'll do it when stede's doing something he loves izzy specifically orchestrates it so stede both initially goes forward with the fuckery and keeps going with it when he wants to stop. like, he's being genuine when he tells stede "he adores you" and "perform like it's your last night on earth"!
and then when he challenges stede to a duel at the end of the episode he a) chooses a duel in the first place, which is more respectful than just attacking him outright, b) describes the terms as the loser gets banished if they're still alive, leaving the possibility of stede living through it on the table, and c) gives him a warning shot when he could have just killed him then and there
then when he sics the English on them, he even tells ed this is a humane way to go, quick and easy, no pain involved
like, of course Izzy's pissed all season because in his mind he's being INCREDIBLY reasonable about the whole thing and no one is appreciating that! which, of course, ties into his warped view of the world around him and the way things are "supposed" to be and his toxic possessive feelings towards ed in which Blackbeard (tm) is a legendary force of violence to be feared and admired while the edward IZZY knows is an "increasingly erratic" moody tyrant who needs to be Managed because izzy is The Only One Who Gets Him
