Warm sun glistened over the black fabric of DreamXD’s back, his body rising and falling with the slow tempo of deep sleep, and the occasional purr-like snore rumbling out of him. His head was rested across George’s lap, all four arms wrapped protectively around the mortal even in his slumber, mimicking that of the dark oaks that lined the edges of the clearing, concealing them from the rest of the SMP.

It was not often that the deity abandoned his iconic, green cloak, his black undertop collecting up the sun’s rays and standing out in the clearing’s lush grass like a sore thumb. Though as strange as it was to see the abandoned fabric engulfed by smothering grass stems in a disheveled heap, the state in which XD had returned to the clearing earlier had been even more uncommon.

George had already been lying in the forest-bound field upon their arrival, mushroom brim jolting up from his grassy haven at even the slightest sign of his godly companion. However his excitement had been quick to turn to concern at the deity’s unusually slumped gait. Their arms were hung lazily by their sides instead of tucked neatly beneath their cloak, and their mask was drooped down to cover their usual cheerful expressions. George had pinpointed the signs of fatigue almost immediately, and DreamXD had not put up much of a fight when he was encouraged to shed away his seemingly heavy cloak, offering only a simple explanation to ease the worried mortal’s questions as he was coaxed into their lap.

“I stayed too long.”

George knew what he meant.

A simple, and yet effective back rub had sent the exhausted deity to sleep within seconds, and George’s concern had faded once XD’s purring had begun. The two hadn’t moved from their positions since, George’s mind being left free to wander as his hand still continued it’s petting absentmindedly.

Ten new red spotted mushrooms had appeared across the banks of the clearing overnight, a few of them only being revealed once a light breeze shifted the undergrowth’s foliage. The brown ones had always proved to be a little harder to count for George, them blending in well with the shade-fed ground. Though with the extra time he was now given as XD’s pillow he was determined to finish his previously-interrupted, daily headcount, squinting into the shadows of the dark oaks against the glare of the sun, and lifting up the front of his mushroom head piece that draped over his eyes.

His concentration was broken once XD stirred beneath his hand however, a few sleepy giggles tumbling out of the large deity. His gaze shifted down to the ruffled golden hair in his lap, XD’s wobbly smile being obvious beneath its volume, seeping out from beneath his mask.

“Are you awake?” George asked gently, smiling as XD’s shoulders bounced gently beneath his fingers. Upon further analysis, it became apparent that throughout his counting, George’s soothing back rub had unintentionally lightened up to tracing, drifting over to a specific spot on XD’s shoulder blades that the brunette knew quite well.

The deity’s hair shook with his head, all four hands wrapping sleepily around clumps of grass from the other side of George.

“Nohoho..?” They giggled. George scoffed, rolling his eyes fondly at the god’s cheekiness. He scuttled his fingers across their back, smiling at the muffled squeak and high pitched giggles that were released against his leg.

“Yes you are~ Wakey wakey XD~” He cooed, watching as the god squirmed into the clearing’s lush grass. He moved to flutter his fingers against the back of their neck, relishing in the snrks and snorts that escaped them, before slowing his attack down to a stop. A content sigh left XD as George smoothed out the ripples in his warmed shirt, his giggles fading away as he melted back into the grassy earth.

The rustling leaves of the dark oaks filled the comfortable silence between the two. Though their melody was only briefly heard as XD’s titters picked back up again, each of their hands coiling back around their respective grass clumps.

“G-geohorge..?” They giggled. George looked down to them with a smile, wind blown hair swaying past his eyes.

“Hm?”

“Can youhu keep going plehease..?” XD asked, his tone and request causing the brunette’s heart to flutter with adoration. George slid his hand through their golden hair, petting over it soothingly.

“With the patting or the tracing?” He asked, his smile widening when the god nuzzled into his leg, arm muscles tensing as they constricted around him. A small mumbled phrase emitted from their mouth, but it was too small for George to understand.

“Huh?” He probed.

“T-tracing plehease.” The deity responded, this time lifting his head a little to say it. For a god of his size, it was truly amazing how tiny he could make his voice. Though his request was clear and George was more than happy to oblige, an excited giggle marking his acceptance.

He slowly began dragging his nails across XD’s scalp, the god already shaking with stifled giggles as he reached the nape of his neck, but soft audible giggles bubbling out of him once George reached his back. It didn’t come as a shock to the brunette, but it was quickly made apparent that the deity was not just after ‘tracing’. Their figure squirmed beneath George’s scratching fingers, their lower set of arms assembling by their sides to aid in their rocking. XD was absolutely leaning into the touch, and George couldn’t blame him. It wasn’t as though ‘cheer up tickles’ were scarce amongst their friendship, and the god was well overdue for his fair share.

Though despite its commonality, George had never been able to let the protector’s impatience slide, and a teasy smirk lifted his lips.

“Are you chasing your tickles XD?”

“Nohoho!!”

“Yes you are!! Look at your little arms helping you!” He mused, wiggling a finger over the back of one of XD’s stabilising arms. He giggled as the god yelped, them quickly retracting their arm safely beneath their body, but collapsing into the earth below once the support was gone.

“Geohohorge..” XD whined. George only let out a laugh, moving to scratch lightly up and down the grounded diety’s spine. He grinned widely at the uncharacteristic squeaks that peppered through their giggles.

“Naww, what’s the matter XD?” He taunted, eyes flickering with delight as XD’s shoulders rolled and twisted after his nimble fingers. It was clear that they were aiming for the sweet spot right below their shoulder blades, but George wasn’t ready to give in so easily. “Am I not tickling you where you want me to?”

XD whined, his knuckles whitening in frustration at the mortal’s teasy game. “Dohohon’t beheheing mehehean.” He pouted. George merely let out a few cheeky giggles.

“Ihihi’ll smihite youhuhu…”

“Ohh you’ll smite me?!” George’s lips curled further into an incredulous smirk at the god’s threat.

“Yehehehes…”

“But then who’d tickle your tickly little shoulder blades??” A giggly growl rumbled into his lap, though George could see the god’s smile widen at his challenge.

“I’ll fihihind another mohortal to do ihihit!!” They countered, lifting themselves up on shaky lower arms. George took the opportunity to pinch down the sides of his back, scoffing at their rebuttal, but enjoying the sight of the god’s spasming muscles as he neared the backs of their armpits.

“Or, instead of going through all that hassle-” George began, having to pause as XD collapsed into a new fit of giggles once he began circling his shoulder blades - a hand over each bone. “Instead of going through all the hassle, you could just tell me what you want XD~” He sang, continuing his circling but wiggling extra long over the skin closest to each armpit. The deity’s giggles raised in pitch.

“Nohohoho!” They tittered, clamping their lower arms in closely to their giggle-shaken body. “Nohoho I alreheheady aHAsked though!” They argued, twisting their head towards the goggled-eyes above to better plead his case. A soft smile found its way to George’s features, XD’s action revealing the gentle pink hue that had settled over the edges of his ears, a sight that was usually hidden beneath the deity’s hooded cloak.

“You asked for tracing.” He reminded softly, though the smugness in his tone was evident. He slowed his circling to a stop, a sudden urge causing him to trace over the deity’s exposed ear instead, marvelling at its rosey colouring. “Your ears go red when you’re embarrassed too.”

“Geohohorge…”

“I’m just saying!!”

“Ihihi’ll- youhuhu’ll behe bahahanished…” XD warned, though their intended solemnity was all but lost beneath squeaky giggles. George grinned as they shook their head, their ear growing redder and redder with each swipe of his finger.

“I’m waiting for you to ask!” He defended, eyes sparkly with glee.

“Ihihi alreheheady asked!!”

“You didn’t ask for tickles on your shoulder blades though!” XD huffed at the mortal’s argument, flexing his fingers in annoyance.

“Aaand, if you ask, then we can play your favourite game afterwards~” George sang, fluttering his fingers over the god’s shoulders. He grinned as a gasp left the larger, their arms immediately wrapping tighter around George, and their fluster expanding beneath golden locks of hair, coating the visible skin in a light pink blush. George smiled fondly as a stream of spluttered giggles were released into his lap, XD’s response to ‘the game’ being just as entertaining as always.

“Just a few simple words~” He egged.

“Y-youhuhuhu h-hahate ihit when I m-mahake you ahahask though.” XD tried, squirming against the grassy ground to counter the lingering tingles over his back. He reached for his clumps of grass from earlier, coiling his fingers around them to ground himself.

“And you still do it anyway.” George shrugged, smirking when no response came from the wriggling deity. “Go ooon~”

XD whined, digging his lower set of claws into the earth by his sides. It was obvious that they were struggling with their usual sense of pride that denied them from accepting any instructions from such ephemeral beings such as George. Though the brunette could also see that that pride was currently crumbling into the grassy support that the god was squirming into. He had to bite back his own giggles when they hissed out a grumpy snarl.

“Can- C-can you please t-tihickle my sh-shouhulder blades?” They finally managed to grit out, their face heating up significantly as the request passed over their tongue.

George grinned a victorious smile, giggling cheekily at the deity’s obvious reluctance. He allowed for his fingers to return to their back, keeping his touch light, and ever so gently grazing his nails over the surface of their shoulder blades.

XD gasped, the muscles over his back tensing initially, but spasming and then going practically limp as bright giggles overcame him. George let out giggles of his own as they plummeted back down into the clearing’s lush grass, their strength being sapped by their laughter.

“gEHEHoHohorge!!”

“Is it nice and tickly XD?” The brunette teased, upping the pace of his scuttling and scribbling all ten fingers over the the surface of the area, focusing on the well known sweet spot just below the shoulder blades.

XD’s laughter kicked up into barks, his arms tightening around George and ripping out the clumps of grass he was holding in attempt to lessen his struggling. His lower set of arms had gratefully been relieved from their previous rolls of stabilisers, but even so XD’s body naturally flinched and twisted away from George’s scratching fingers.

“Yehehehehes!!” He squeaked. George giggled at their response, following their squirming with practiced precision. He ensured to keep the deity guessing with his pace and pressure, never leaving any of the area untouched. Sometimes he would circle the spot, teasing over it lightly. While other times he was scratch over it relentlessly, waiting for XD’s laughter to ascend into silence before moving away again.

The protector of the server was sent into a world of pure bliss, only just being able to hide his wide smile from the brunette as he still writhed into the spongy grass. Though even gods of his power had their limits, and the minute XD’s lower arms began to push up against the dead-weight of the his own limp body, George knew that he was approaching it.

He slowed his scuttling right back down to tracing, moving away from the sweet spot and back to the deity’s spine. XD’s giggles remained, soft chirps muffling into George’s lap as they gradually were pulled back to reality. George smiled fondly as their back shook with stuttered breaths, rubbing over the black fabric to help chase away the remaining ghostly tickles.

“Was that nice?” He asked gently, using his free hand to tame some of the god’s frazzled strands of hair that had puffed up during the his twisting. He could still see the gentle pink glow that clung stubbornly to XD’s cheeks.

“Geheh- Gehehoho- Gehehohorge mihihy-”

“Shhh..” He soothed, cutting off the deity’s incoherent ramble and upping the pressure of his back rub in reassurance. XD grumbled, but melted into the touch with a content hum. It took only a couple of minutes before his breathing evened out. George allowed him the time. He still had to follow through with the other half of his deal after all.

“How are you feeling?” He crooned, leaning down to ensure that the protector had recovered enough. He could see that their blush had died down, though a loopy smile was still present underneath his mask. A content hum vibrated against his leg. “Do you think you can handle one more thing?”

As soon as the words left his mouth, a sudden jolt travelled through XD’s body. His breath hitched as he froze on the spot, before curling himself closer into George with a single giggle. The brunette had to hold in his own laughter as they nuzzled into his side, but their nodded head of approval was unmistakable.

“Did you forget about our deal?” The boy teased. XD’s giggles returned, his body shaking in anticipated bliss. “You did didn’t you!” A quick head shake answered his question, though George rolled his eyes fondly at their obvious fib.

“XD?” He summoned.

“Y-yehehehes..?”

“May I have your hand please?”

Immediately, the protectors giggles picked up, this time with a mildly panicked pace to them. His hold around George tightened, nuzzling further into his side, and pulling a few giggles from the mushroom boy himself and he attempted to guide the deity’s head away from his body.

While it was of course the deity’s all-time favourite tickle game, the game was also the thing that drove them the most insane. Though despite this, they still offered George one of their lower hands - as usual - with their palm facing up, and their fingers constantly scrunching and unfolding in anticipation.

“Thank you.” George giggled, taking hold of the hand once he was sure that XD was not going to burrow back into his side again. He flattened it out gently. “Now where should I go today?” He asked, tapping a finger on his chin. XD giggled at his playfulness. “How about… in this little armpit here?” He asked, wiggling a finger quickly into XD’s upper armpit.

The god squealed, immediately snapping down his upper arm to his side. He remained giggling even once George pulled away, the boy smoothening out their hair as he waited patiently for him to calm down.

“Are you ready~?” He asked, watching fondly as the god’s upper arm returned to its original position. It grasped firmly at his other hand, arm muscles practically bursting from the skin at how tight he was holding it.

“Y-yehes!“ They squeaked. George grinned.

“Okay~! Rooound and rouuunnd the garrrden…” He sang, gently tracing the god’s palm in circles. He only made it to the third circle before XD’s hand instinctively closed back shut however, preventing him from continuing the game.

“Gehohohorge!!” XD whined in dismay.

“Open up your little fingers XD~” George replied to his call, wiggling a finger lightly over the slither of palm available to him. He giggled as XD let out a giggly growl, watching excitedly as their fingers slowly uncurled. He continued again once they were fully straightened out again. “Like a teeeddy bear!!”

“One steeep…” He drawled, taking a single step with his fingers over XD’s palm. The god’s giggles picked up again, streams of bubbly laughter pouring out of him as his arm shook in attend to keep his hand steady. “XD don’t you want to watch my fingers walk down?” George taunted cheekily.

“Nohohoho!” XD exclaimed. George yelped as they nuzzled into his stomach, a few surprised giggles tumbling out of him as he attempted to shuffle away.

“Nohoho XD!! Twoooo steeheps!!” He continued, giggling more as the god shrieked once he jumped his fingers to the crease in their elbow. George threw his head back briefly as XD followed his squirming, but his determination to finish the game kept him strong. “Ehex Dehehe!! Loohok I’m gohoing to get your armpit!!”

“Geohohohorge!!” Came the god’s muffled cry, their head shaking against the blue of his tshirt. George could just make out their bright red fluster.

“Aaaahahanddd… tickle under there!!!” He announced, leaping his fingers right into the divot of XD’s upper armpit.

The deity immediately jolted, tightening his hold around George, but the reaction only allowing the brunette better access to his armpit. The goggled-boy scribbled and scratched, following XD as they tried to turn away from him, and giggling along with him as loud laughter began to boom out of them.

“GEOHOHORGE!!”

“Ooo how is it XD~? Is it nice and tickly in there??” XD let out a few spluttered giggles into George’s shirt, their lower hands coming up to wrap weakly around the boy’s wrists.

George pinched and scribbled, drilling his thumb into the flesh, and even jumping down to the deity’s lower armpit occasionally. He could hear that the god was beginning to tire again, however instead of being stopped by the known safe word that he was listening out so carefully for, he was instead stopped by a few quick pinches to his own side.

He jumped sharply at the sensation, before shrieking when he realised that the feeling was coming from the deity’s upper hands, which were digging into his sides. He immediately abandoned XD’s armpits, desperately fending off the large hands to no avail.

“nAHahaha EHEHEX DEHEE!! Youhu’re supposed to use youhu’re safe wohohord aHAHaha!!” He cackled, falling back into the grass beside him to escape the god’s attack. XD simply followed however, residual giggles still tumbling out of him as he squeezed all four hands over George’s sides and ribs. “EHEHEX DEHEHEE!!”

“Eheheh, Ihihi lihihike this better than the sahafe wohord thohough!”

“NAHaha NO!!” George laughed, desperately kicking and twisting himself away from the larger being.

XD giggled along with him, but he let up after only a few more pinches, lifting himself up on shaking arms, and rolling over to the side of George. The brunette immediately began rubbing away his residual tickles, breathy giggles still toppling out of him.

“Do youhu feel better now?” He asked, reaching up to reposition his head piece, pushing aside the stray strands of hair that had fallen over his eyes.

“Yeheheheah…” XD sighed, a giddy smile still present beneath his mask. George felt his own prideful smile creep over his lips. He was happy to have the god’s usual cheerful presence back.
