One of my greatest realizations through the course of SCED 480 was discovering the difference between a learning target and a learning success.
Schools often are using the term "learning target" to demonstrate an action students will simply do; just because students do this action doesn't mean they actually learned the content that is of most value. In science, however, a learning target is simply the content being taught, the what that is of importance to the lesson.
Sound carries information from the source to the receiver.
Next is where the term "learning success" comes in. In science, the success is the action students will take in order to prove that they understand the learning target.
I can identify different attributes of sounds.
Learning Targets and Learning Successes together combine both the content knowledge and the action students take to prove that they know what they need to know. As a future teacher it was important for me to understand the difference between the two because it is imperative for students to know what they're learning along with how they are learning it.
