And unlike Korra, he never master metalbending until recently and decided to scrap that (haha metal joke-) in favor for lavabending. However, lavabending much more complicated than what it seems. It’s literal molten rock so… he was struggling, to say the least.

Traditional earthbending is much more rigid and focuses on remaining like a ‘rock’, unmoving and unyielding. Bending lava needs a much more… finer finesse. And who has the most finesse he knows? You! What’s better than asking a seasoned waterbender?!

Bolin asks for your help sooner than later, pushing away his pride in order to learn from you: a versatile and powerful waterbender. You happily agree, excited to help Bolin achieve a more fluid and loose bending style for lava bending (haha water jokes-).

As you two work, it finally clicks within Bolin’s head. Like any element, it cannot be controlled, it needs to be led like water… just thicker water.

So, giving him a few tricks or two, you lead Bolin through some basic warm ups. Such as the ‘Push and Pull’, ‘Up and Down’, and the ‘Round Around’ techniques. Each made to help lead the water - or lava in this case - in the direction. Not controlling it.

Bolin gets some growth later in the evening, your teaching efforts finally paying off. You’re proud of him for achieving what many earthbenders - heck even the Avatar at times - find almost impossible.

You decide to reward your cute boyfriend with a peck on the lips, happily wrapping your hand in his bigger, calloused one. His entire face ends up a tomato red, steam coming from his ears.

You laugh it off, grinning as he peppers many more small and affectionate pecks onto your cheeks, nose - anywhere he can reach.

“You’re the best boyfriend anyone can ask for!”
