I just realized I've seen a bunch of Marvel stuff for Father's Day but didn't see anything for Mother's Day. Well, frick it. It's Father's Day but I'm making a Mother's Day one because I want to.

"Another heartbreak, another lesson to be learned"
Laura Lang continues to fill our senses with smooth listening experiences in her music. Her single “Rust” off her EP that released in January is our newest obsession. As the audience, we get a little glimpse of a budding romance that starts to blossom into a form of a wish to be with someone. There’s a little bit of an insecurity in the lyrics that we can absolutely relate with. Lang mentions “I destroy everything I touch”, which can be a relatable reaction someone has when a relationship or friendship ends. The beat is consistent and catchy, with a nice electric guitar presence that adds to the soothing rhythm. We can’t help but want to lounge on the couch with this on full loop.

Laura Lang's Memo to Staff
Departing Time Inc. CEO Laura Lang sent this memo to staff in regards to the publishing company's spinning-off into an independent, publicly-traded company.
Today’s news that Time Warner plans to spin off Time Inc. is something that everyone is just beginning to digest. While there are many questions that can only be answered in time, one thing is already clear: the hard work we have done over the past year in maintaining our core business while at the same time becoming more digitally focused has positioned the company well. Time Inc. has incredible talent and great brands that will continue to lead our industry.
The planned spin-off has also made me reflect on what is the best path for me and the company going forward. After considerable thought, I have decided that taking the company through a transition to the public markets is not where my passion lies. Jeff has been extremely supportive and I am committed to working together with him on recruiting the right person to lead Time Inc. at the spin.
I want to thank all of you for your support over the past year. You welcomed me warmly and jumped in enthusiastically as we charted a course. I look forward to working with you as we continue to make progress.

Time Inc. CEO Promises Less Free Content
#SuryaRay #Surya Laura Lang, who took the reins as CEO of Time Inc. 10 months ago, sent a memo to staff Wednesday outlining how she plans to rescue the struggling company. The magazine publisher witnessed a six percent decline in advertising revenue to $855 million in the first half of 2012, and a seven percent decrease year-over-year in subscription revenue to $581 million. Lang, who previously served as CEO of ad agency Digitas, outlined a three-point "growth strategy" for Time Inc. -- focused on developing new advertising products, protecting paid content and developing a better content management system. Ladies and gentlemen, graduating seniors: good evening. Those familiar words open every graduation speech at Smallville High, and I use them deliberately because the rest of my speech will not be so reassuring. I never made a difference here, but maybe my children can. When I first came to Smallville High, I was full of hope. Hope that I could make an impact. That it would be different for me. That I could change Smallville instead of letting it change me. Unfortunately, four years later, I stand before you as valedictorian of the graduating class of 1977, and all I can tell you is that you should be ashamed of yourselves. I know these speeches are supposed to be about memories, about shared moments that will last a lifetime. But my best memory of Smallville is the day I realized I could leave this town behind. Though my memories are few, my regrets are many. I regret that I didn't stand up for James Alexander when he was picked on in the cafeteria. That I didn't speak up when Sally Adams left town because she was socially excommunicated by a group of girls she called friends. I should have spoken out, should have said something, should have raised my voice in protest. But I didn't. I sat quietly with my mouth shut, just like the rest of you. I put on my cheerleading uniform and my pom-pom smile, and when the going got rough, I recessed into a book. That's probably what got me here in front of you today. But I'd happily give it all back if I could. I'd trade in the pom-poms and the straight A's and the college acceptance for just one thing: the chance to stand up for what was right. So you see, you should be ashamed of yourselves, but no one is more ashamed than I. Good luck with your futures. I hope you leave the cruelty and ignorance behind--I know I will.
