She reads the text again. Three words after six weeks of silence. Six weeks, which felt like forever.

Her thumb presses the reply box. 

2:21 AM 

She deletes another paragraph she’d typed. 

2:34 AM 

She deletes the message she’d spent ten minutes typing out.

2:38 AM

 She clicks on the contact photo. It’s still a picture of them kissing in the rain. 

2:45 AM

She starts typing another message.

2:47 AM

She deletes everything she typed.

2:51 AM

She closes the app and opens the gallery, getting greeted by an album of their photos.

2:55 AM

She wipes a stray tear from her face and deletes the album.

2:59 AM

She opens the chat again, dimming the screen’s brightness for a bit.

3:01 AM

She starts typing again. 

3:09 AM

She deletes the text she’d just typed and rubs her burning eyes with the back of her hand.
