Congratulations @larry_moore_studios ・・・ 1,000 years ago today I started my life as an illustrator. I loved that career. I loved the problem solving, I loved the immense talent in the field, and I loved going every year to the annual Society of Illustrators exhibitions to see what marvelous work was done and awarded that year. The annual exhibitions were captured in a catalog and I owned every one of them. While I had my share of pieces accepted into the shows, I never dreamed of winning a medal. I could not possibly see myself in the same ranks as the luminaries of the art. I still don’t. And to get a piece on the cover? Never. In 2005 I got a call from SI, “Good news, you won a gold!” I’m sorry, what? “More good news, we want to use your work on the cover.” Okay, thank you, I can die now a very happy man. I still do the occasional job for fun and anxiety, thanks to my longtime rep, Scott Hull Associates. I’m working on one now which has me pulling out the old annuals, like this one. This project that made the cover was probably my most favorite of all I have done. The theme was security, which I reframed as ‘who do you trust?’ Everybody is afraid of somebody, even serial killers and terrorists. 160 faces painted in black n white gouache, each is 1”x1.5” and the placement of each was random. Deities, demons, murderers, rock stars, politicians, victims, all in one room. . #larrymoore #illustration #societyofillustrators #lifegoals #scotthullartist #newyorksocietyofillustrators #illustrator @scottbhull #larrymoorestudios https://www.instagram.com/p/B0ofvm0hPol/?igshid=18fjhc24g8t5x
