Hello Anon! Okay so, in my opinion (which isn’t everyone’s obviously, here’s another take on your question for example), I think it is because the big bad wanted to annihilate Vincent’s family in the worst way possible, out of revenge or maybe as a punishment. 

First of all, here’s who I think the big bad is: [x][x]

Secondly, one possibility I could see as an explanation is the big bad having an old grudge against the P family and Vincent didn’t manage to act well enough to erase the danger of being eliminated.

So murdering him and his wife, which left their sons to be defenseless, and then making sure child traffickers would get the twins (thanks to that possible supernatural dude who killed everyone before abducting the boys in ch134)…

…and sell them to horrible psychos was the plan 4 years ago.

In my opinion, the twins weren’t meant to survive whatever would happen to them after being sold into captivity and I even think that this guy from ch137 (who was possibly the same guy as ch134)…

…was there to make sure they could report to the big bad that the twins ended up dead, by whoever bought them.

However, something totally unexpected happened…

because a demon was summoned, which allowed for one boy to survive and come back. That’s the gist of my thoughts. 

Since we don’t know for sure why Vincent had to die though, if it was in relation to his mother also possibly ending up murdered or not, and what kind of supernatural being works for the big bad (shinigami, demon, angel maybe?), it’s unfortunately hard to develop more than that. 

We don’t even know if the person I’m referring to as the big bad may not be manipulated herself in the first place (in s1 of the anime she was), so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ that’s about it for now.

The only thing I’m reasonably sure of though is that Vincent always expected to be killed, but he didn’t expect for his sons to suffer and that’s where he fucked up. And the reason for that may be because, when his own mother probably was murdered, he and his sister didn’t have anything done to them.

So ask yourself this: if two Watchdogs were murdered in the span of 20 years, but only one set of children had to suffer, what changed between the two murders? Did it somehow become even more personal? Was it a message? That’s what I’m looking forward to find out.

Okay so, there are actually two different questions in your ask. When it comes to this...

...I don’t know if it can be called a RCMT hint exactly, because it might just be that real!Ciel is less naive than our!Ciel, simply because: 

he spent slightly more time with Vincent who might have taught him more about the Watchdog’s duty than our!Ciel

he went out to social gathering more and, as a result, maybe he was more warned about not trusting adults he doesn’t know by his parents

Therefore our!Ciel cannot imagine that someone “rescuing” them might in fact have sinister ideas planned for them, whereas real!Ciel (whether because he planned something sinister himself or for the other reasons I pointed out) found the man suspicious from the get go.

Maybe it’s totally unrelated to the RCMT tho’ and it’s just to show that, despite being young children, real!Ciel was aware that people could want to hurt kids like them while our!Ciel, who generally would go out less, was less warned about trusting adults you don’t know. 

It’s up to you to see it as a hint or not. :) However:

Careful, careful! No matter if the RCMT is true or not, real!Ciel is not the big bad/main villain and “hints from vol1″ wouldn’t be about him.

I wrote a recap post for my take on the RCMT (there are different versions of the theory going around) and, in my opinion, whatever real!Ciel did or didn’t do, he was just a pawn to the big bad who was after the annihilation of the P family.

So Sensei saying she’s been dropping hints about that person from the beginning... well I don’t think it’s about real!Ciel because he was just a pawn in the grand scheme of things, rather I believe the hints are about someone else:

Anyway, yes, it’s a headcanon I have thanks to @thedarkestcrow​, not sure it’s ever going to happen but it would be very fitting, kinda like Sieglinde...

when she had her new beginning. :) 

I think the worst for me though is to realize that Yana gave a lot of symbolic foreshadowing and always was implying something about this chapter whenever Ciel was having a PTSD episode and I didn’t see that coming, even if I probably should have. 

His breakdown during the circus arc we already know what it’s going to refer to in two chapters, but remember when he had a breakdown during the green witch arc?

This was the outfit that his mind used the imagery of when our!Ciel was angsting and confronting “his brother” (the figure of his brother actually representing survivor’s guilt, because our!Ciel sees his brother’s death as something he’s guilty of) until Seb woke him up. 

This too, from what happens last in the chapter...

it’s rather slightly reminiscent, don’t you think?

Even Ciel wearing earrings is something that is to link back to this chapter. Initially I thought maybe he had pierced his ears when he became Earl Phantomhive because his father used to have similar earrings but actually...

I haven’t reread the first volumes in a while, but it looks familiar indeed even if it’s not particularly surprising that it does, since it’s been theorized before that, after the JTR & Campania arcs, Druitt might have (had) ties to other organizations from the underworld. :))

I mean, at this point I hope no Kuro reader thinks he’s just a beautiful dude who’s stupid and often at the wrong place at the wrong time, especially since Sensei’s usual comic relief moments generally hide some truth. xD 

To this day though, personally I still don’t know what to make of him and of any possible link to the cult that abused the twins 4 years ago, as well as to the blue sect (since it’s yet another scientific organization and his nephew is involved). I think the chances are far from 0 that he might be or might have been involved, it’s just that he is lucky enough to have avoided retribution all this time.

For now though, I can’t decide whether it was just Sensei reusing an old design for this mask (especially since it’s one of the early volumes of the series) or if Druitt really had some ties to that cult of 4 years ago. In my opinion both are possible, especially considering Druitt’s general involvement with shady organizations so far, and maybe he just wasn’t around that one month the twins were bought and prepared for the sacrifice (like Kelvin). I certainly wouldn’t put it past him in any case.

Hello! Ah well, no offense Anon but you’re addressing two separate subjects. :) 

First of all, even if we are several to have caught on in advance about what happens at the end of ch135 because of previous hints, even if some of us were expecting it, even if you could argue child abuse is a theme of Kuroshitsuji, it’s normal that not every Kuro reader had guessed that this was one part of the abuse the twins endured for one month. 

So please try to understand that this chapter can be extremely upsetting and that it is why readers’ reactions to it are widely different. I was expecting it myself (although not for this month I’ll give you that) but Yana really succeeded in creating a horrific scene, both in symbolism and writing, which gave even someone like me (who reads series like Berserk or Killing Stalking) a heartache, and currently I’m not sure of how I’ll fare with the official English translation. 

However, I agree that there is no need to be pissed at Yana. Not everyone has to agree, it’s my personal opinion, but I find she did an absolutely amazing job with this chapter and I realized that in how much I hated and was repulsed by it. 

In fact I believe it takes a lot of skills to be able to depict something so horrible as realistically as possible, to the point of even emotionally unsettling readers who knew it was coming and she managed that even through symbolism. So people who are pissed at how harsh/unecessary/too dark it was have the right to feel that way but, for me, they are in fact proving that Sensei nailed the whole point of her chapter.

Hi Anon and thanks <3 I don’t remember how long it took me to get used to Killing Stalking or to what happened to Casca in Berserk, but I’m sure I will be okay eventually. :)

Anyway, so yes, Kuroshitsuji is indeed a story of a dark genre. It’s true s1 of the anime might have given you the feeling that it was not the darkest thing of the genre, but the manga is on another scale entirely and even the more recent anime adaptations have issues recreating a similar atmosphere in my opinion.

Since you mentioned the subject though, the use of comic relief is generally hiding something, even if it feels good sometimes to have comic relief when you get chapters like this month’s. So in other words, if you ever want to start Kuroshitsuji, you should definitely read the manga. ;)
