#12: Has your character committed any crimes (per their universe's laws)? If not, which crime would your character most likely commit?

Oh absolutely hands down Davis.

He didn't set out to commit crime. He's a formless shifter who purchased and terraformed a planet to Earthlike specifications (at least WRT atmosphere and habitability w/o modification) and collected all the willing human specimens he could find across the universe, bringing them to this crafted world to resettle eons after Earth was destroyed and humanity fled to the stars.

His intention was to gift this planet to them and leave, but before he left, he brought them an animal from his world that resembled the dragons of their lore (after asking if they would like that). He used bio-nanotechnology to give the first pair (the Scovens) sapience and control over the others as needed. This pair was otherwise unmodified from the original species, but Davis also modified the genome to create their species, but smaller- draft horse sized or so, to be companions for the humans. Help them in return for being cared for.

Unfortunately, Davis fucked up bigtime, and the tech he used for the Sovens retained its directive to assemble in their minds the same way as the Scovens, despite being in smaller heads. The technology gifted and then slowly destroyed the sapience of the chaskra, turning them from loving companions into brutal killing machines that would eventually stop eating and only follow their one remaining objective- seek humans.

Rouchelle came with a name intact, like all of Korvhan's story. I woke up from a dream, crying, with that entire story, names and all, intact in my head.

Alyria, as one of the dragons, was sounded out by the sounds dragons can make in the human tongue.

#2 Were they created for the story, or was the story created for them?

#15: Is your character's first instinct fight or flight? Is there something that could force them to do the opposite?

Answer for Korvhan, it's fight. The only thing he's likely to flee from is his father, but only because he could never win that fight. Even if Ra Scovi did not overtake his mind, he's three or four times Korvhan's size. The only viable option is to flee before his father gets close enough to find him.

#17: Is your character holding any grudges? Are they likely to stop?

All of you, to a person, accepted the egg (which is exactly what happened in the story this is from) so the response is:

I'm terribly sorry you accepted the egg. The creature within hatches into a chaskra, a dragon-esque alien into whom the scientist placed nanotechnology in the hopes of making it sapient. The technology works for a while, but doesn't stop replicating and eventually causes feral behavior in the creature, which leads to your death and ultimately the destruction of the small society humans have built on this planet.

Korvhan Tilliluk Rascoviss

Korvhan is a verrrry old OC of mine. I had been drawing fragments of him for ages and ages before one day I knew exactly what he looked like, clear as a bell, and I knew his name and basically his whole story in an instant. I sat down, then, and drew him out.

Korvhan is a Scoven, a draconic species that was implanted to a planet to help with a global research project a shape-shifting alien named “Davis” was conducting there. Davis had rounded up a large group of humans from where they had scattered to space (several thousand, which was a huge chunk of what was left of humanity) and settled them on a planet that was similar to what Earth had been once.

The world had very few flat spaces; most of the planet was high, jagged mountains. In the central flat area of the domain, they constructed the First City, where most of the population lived. From there, the humans spread out and survived in the mountains, collecting and submitting data for Davis, which was the agreed upon price for settling here.

Davis wanted to expand his reach in the world, so he imported/invited a pair of Scovens (who were an intelligent, sovereign species), and used their genetics to produce a lesser race of creatures he named Chaskra. The humans aided in the development of a computer program which was capable of gathering sensory data from the Chaskra as they went about life. A nanite system was developed to inject into the first clutch of babies. It would develop a small, non-intrusive home-base within the Chaskra cranial cavity, and transmit any gathered data to Davis.

They also developed a semi-organic receiving/transmitting nanite system to inject into the Scovens, to allow them to control the programs of the Chaskra. It would allow them to transmit to or receive data from any unit over great distances (allowing them to request more data about something, etc).

The problem was that the original program for the Chaskra was flawed, and the nanite program did not stop building once it started. Over the course of roughly 6 years, the nanite program would build a transmission station in the cranial cavity that wiped out higher cognitive function, leaving the Chaskra as mindless, vicious predators.

The Scovens left Davis to try to stop the downfall, but both they and Davis failed. The Chaskra all but obliterated the human population. Davis went into hiding when the Scovens blamed him.

Korvhan is born years afterward, his egg abandoned near a run-down research facility on the eastern coast of the main continent. He is taken in by Rouchelle, a six year old Chaskra who should have been losing her mind to the nanites. However, she has been working with Davis to find a cure, and Korvhan joins them in their fight.

Male Trenneks are the apex predators of Korvhan's world- or at least, they were until Korvhan's species was developed and set free. They are roughly the size of a serval, and their diet mainly consists of living energy (soul eaters). The bone "blades" on their backs are elongated vertebrae, and are used for sparring with other males.

The females are slightly smaller, a soft-brown color, and do not have the bone blades down their spine- they have two ridges of long feathers. They consume the meat and often the bones of kills the male makes.

They are a mainly nomadic, arboreal species of ambush hunters. Trenneks live in small groups of 4-6, with one male typically traveling ahead of females far enough one might not realize he is part of the group. He remains closer to them when there are young to help protect.
